ICICI Bank received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise its stake in ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company by up to 4% in multiple tranches. The private lender currently holds a 48.01% share in ICICI Lombard.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited is a joint venture between ICICI Bank Ltd. and Canada based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.

Adichanallur was one of the five archaeological sites declared to be developed as 'Iconic Sites' in the Union Budget 2020-21. It is an archaeological site located on the banks of river Thamirabarani in this district.

Renowned Telangana folk singer and balladeer Gaddar, who was popularly known for his revolutionary songs during the 1980s and later during the Telangana statehood agitation, passed away due to ill-health. He was 77. Born as Gummadi Vittal Rao at Toopran in Medak district in 1949, the renowned folk singer and poet went on to become popular as 'Gaddar'.

World rice price index jumps to near 12-year high in July, UN food agency says

The United Nations food agency's rice price index rose 2.8% in July from a month ago to their highest level in nearly 12 years as prices in key exporting countries jumped on strong demand and India's move to curb the exports. The July score was almost 20% higher than the last year's 108.4 points and the highest since September 2011, it said.
