MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi appointed India's ambassador to UN in Geneva

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has been appointed India's permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) and other international organisations in Geneva.

In Geneva, Bagchi would succeed Indra Mani Pandey who is set to return to New Delhi.

Earlier, Bagchi served as ambassador to Croatia and deputy high commissioner to Sri Lanka.

National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman and Managing Director Meenesh C. Shah has been elected to the Board of the International Dairy Federation (IDF).

He is the Member Secretary of the Indian National Committee and also a member of the Standing Committee on Dairy Policy and Economics.

IDF Headquarters is located in Brussels, Belgium.

IDFC gets CCI nod for merger with IDFC First Bank

The Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) has received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for its merger with IDFC First Bank.

IDFC held a stake of 30.93 percent in IDFC First Bank through its non-financial holding company, as of June 30, 2023.

The combination has been approved under the Green Channel Route.

RBI slaps Rs 3.95 cr fine on Kotak Mahindra Bank, Rs 12.19 cr on ICICI Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday imposed a penalty of Rs 3.95 crore on Kotak Mahindra Bank and Rs 12.19 crore on ICICI Bank for non-compliance with a few regulatory norms.

The action is based on regulatory compliance problems and is not meant to rule on the legitimacy of any transaction or arrangement entered into by the two banks with their customers.

India’s first tilapia parvovirus reported in Tamil Nadu

The occurrence of tilapia parvovirus (TiPV) affecting farm-bred tilapia, a freshwater fish species, and causing a huge mortality rate has been reported for the first time in India at ponds in Walajah in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu.

The TiPV was first reported in China in 2019 and Thailand in 2021. India is the third country to report the occurrence of TiPV.
