Home-grown mapping company Genesys International Ltd. has signed a pact with Survey of India to leverage its resources for building digital twins of major towns and cities in the country. With this, Genesys International will get access to technological and data resources that Survey of India has developed since its establishment in 1767.

The United Arab Emirates has inaugurated the world's largest single-site solar power plant ahead of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).

The 2-gigawatt Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic Independent Power Project (IPP) is located 35 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city and will generate enough electricity to power almost 200,000 homes.

IISR develops high-yielding black pepper variety ‘Chandra’

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research , Kozhikode, has developed a high-yielding variety of black pepper named ‘IISR Chandra’. The institute has also completed the genome sequencing of the variety.

The ‘IISR Chandra’ variety has a long spike, compact setting, and bold berries. It also showed optimal spike intensity greater than than of other existing varieties.

Justice M. Fathima Beevi, the first woman judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court of India, died. She was also the first Muslim woman judge to be appointed to any higher judiciary.
