The Uttarakhand Government’s Department of Health and Family Welfare has launched a portal called eSwasthya Dham. eSwasthya Dham portal helps in monitoring the Char Dham Yatra pilgrim’s health parameters. It ensures the smooth journey of pilgrims visiting Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath together called as the Char Dham Yatra.

Union Health Ministry said in a release that the eSwasthya Dham portal provides a range of benefits to the pilgrims and one of them is the generation of ABHA. Pilgrims can easily create their ABHA 14-digit number at the eSwasthya Dham portal in a couple of minutes.

IAF contingent arrives at Royal Australian Air Force base, to participate in Ex Pitch Black 2024.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent landed at the Royal Australian Air Force RAAF) base Darwin, Australia for participating in Exercise Pitch Black 2024. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from July 12 to August 2, 2024, and is a biennial, multi-national exercise hosted by the RAAF.

The name 'Pitch Black' was derived from the emphasis on night time flying over large un-populated areas. This edition is slated to be the largest in the 43 year long history of Ex Pitch Black, which includes participation by 20 countries, with over 140 aircraft and 4,400 military personnel of various air forces.

IAF contingent arrives at Royal Australian Air Force base, to participate in Ex Pitch Black 2024.

The exercise will be focusing on Large Force Employment warfare aimed at strengthening international cooperation and shall facilitate experience with the IAF Su-30 MKI operating alongside the F-35, F-22, F-18, F-15, Gripen, and Typhoon fighter aircraft. The IAF has previously participated in the 2018 and 2022 editions of this exercise.

Robert Ravi to replace PK Purwar as BSNL CMD.

The government has appointed Robert Jerard Ravi as the new BSNL chairman and managing director (CMD) for a period of six months. Ravi is currently appointed as deputy director general, standards, research, and innovation at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He will hold additional charges as CMD BSNL, CMD MTNL, and CMD BBNL effective July 15, according to DOT.

Subhash Dandekar the founder of stationery brand Camlin, died. Dandekar was aged 86.

Spike in food prices pushes WPI inflation to 16-month high in June.

India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation rose for the fourth consecutive month in June to a 16-month high of 3.36 percent from 2.61 percent in May, primarily on the back of an adverse base effect and a sharp spike in food prices. Inflation in food prices stood at 10.87 percent during the month, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

In June 2023, wholesale inflation had stood at -4.18 percent. Within food articles, pressure on the factory gate prices majorly built up on account of acceleration in the prices of onion (93.35 percent), potato (66.37 percent), vegetables (38.76 percent), cereals (9.27 percent), fruits (10.14 percent) and wheat (6.25 percent).

FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is selling its water purification business -- Pureit in India to AO Smith, a leading global water technology company, for Rs 601 crore ($72 million). There will be no change in the shareholding pattern of HUL following the proposed slump sale.

According to a regulatory filing, the completion of the transaction is expected to be completed within three months, subject to any extension as per the terms of the transaction documents. For HUL, the FY24 turnover of the water purification business was recorded at Rs 293 crore, which is less than 1% of its turnover.

Pureit was first launched in Chennai in 2004 with the introduction of Pureit Classic. It entered the electric water purification segment in 2011. HUL had reported a 6% drop in its standalone net profit at Rs 2,406 crore in the preceding quarter (Q4FY24). Revenue from operations in Q4 was marginally up at Rs 14,693 crore.
