The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a draft ‘Licensing Framework for Authorised Persons (APs)’ under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. The RBI had, in its June monetary policy meeting, said that the Central Bank decided to rationalize and simplify the licensing framework for APs to effectively meet the emerging requirements of the rapidly growing economy.

The Government has said that nearly one crore 40 lakh candidates have been trained so far under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) since its launch in 2015. Current account gap narrows to 1% of GDP at $8.3 bn in Q2FY24: RBI

India’s current account deficit (CAD) narrowed sequentially to $8.3 billion, or 1% of gross domestic product (GDP), in the quarter that ended September (Q2FY24) due to lower merchandise trade deficit and growth in services exports. The CAD was $9.2 billion, or 1.1% of GDP, in Q1 and $30.9 billion, or 3.8% of GDP, in Q2FY23.

HDFC Bank board approves re-appointment of Atanu Chakraborty as chairman

Private lender HDFC Bank said that its board has recommended the reappointment of Atanu Chakraborty as the part-time non-executive chairman and independent director.

The bank further added that the matter is with the Reserve Bank of India for a second term of three years from May 5, 2024, to May 4, 2027 approval.
