About SEBI Grade A Recruitment Exam

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), a regulator of stock markets in India, invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of SEBI Grade “A” Officer (Assistant Manager) for General Stream, Legal Stream, Information Technology Stream, Engineering Stream (Civil & Electrical), Research Stream & Official Language Stream.

SEBI Grade A Officer Notification

The official notification for the SEBI 2020 exam is released announcing 147 vacancies. The recruitment process is for the selection of candidates for the post of Assistant Manager also known as the Grade 'A' Officer post in the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

The selection process is a 3-tier process. It consists of Phase-I and Phase-II exams, which are conducted to shortlist candidates for a personal interview. Candidates must clear each phase of the exam to get shortlisted and progress to the next stage.

SEBI Grade A Officer Interview

A candidate may opt for an interview either in Hindi or English. The weightage of marks obtained in Phase II will be 85%, while marks obtained in the interview shall be given a weight of 15%.

Age Criteria

The Age Limit for SEBI Recruitment for Officer Grade A Post is as follows,

  • Maximum Age Limit: 30 Years

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 05 Years
  • OBC: 03 Years
  • PWD: 10 Years
  • SC/ST PWD: 15 Years
  • OBC/PWD: 13 Years

Educational Qualifications

  • General Stream -: Master’s Degree in any discipline, Bachelors’ Degree in Law, Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering from a recognized university, CA / CFA / CS / Cost Accountant.
  • Legal Stream -: Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University / Institute.
  • Information Technology -: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Electronics And Communication / Information Technology / Computer Science) OR Masters in Computers Application OR Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a postgraduate qualification (minimum 2 years duration) in Computers / Information Technology.
  • Civil Engineering -: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University / Institute.
  • Electrical Engineering -: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University / Institute.
  • Research -: Master’s Degree in Statistics / Economics / Commerce / Business Administration (Finance) / Econometrics from a recognized University / Institute.
  • Official Language -: Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as one of the subjects at Bachelor’s Degree level or Master’s Degree in Sanskrit / English / Economics / Commerce with Hindi as a subject at Bachelor’s Degree level from a recognized University / Institute.

Prerequisites for Applying Online

Before applying online, candidates should,

  • scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm) and signature adhere to the required specifications as given in Annexure III to this Advertisement.
  • Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be accepted.
  • keep the necessary details/documents ready to make Online Payment of the requisite application fee/ intimation charges.

Steps to Apply for SEBI Exam Online

  • Step 1: Go to SEBI’s website https://www.sebi.gov.in
  • Step 2: Click on ‘SEBI Recruitment of Officers in Grade A – Online Registration (Check Careers section) link on the home-page
  • Step 3: Click on the ‘Online Registration Link’
  • Step 4: Click on the link for new registration – Click here for New Registration.
  • Step 5: Enter your name, contact details, and Email ID to register. A registration number and password will be displayed on the screen. These details will also be shared through SMS and Email provided by the candidate.
  • Step 6: Login using the registration number and password to complete the application form.
  • Step 7: Fill in all the details carefully and check them before hitting the “FINAL SUBMIT” button.
  • Step 8: Upload the scanned images of the Photograph and Signature as per the specification mentioned in the official notification.
  • Step 9: Proceed to the “Payment” option. Application fees can be paid through internet banking/debit cards/credit cards/mobile wallets.
  • Step 10: Once the application process is complete, take a printout of the confirmation page/completed application form.

Important Note: Do not send a system-generated printout of the filled-in application form to SEBI’s office.

What is the Salary of SEBI Grade A Officer? +

Presently, the gross emolument including SEBI’s Contribution towards National Pension Scheme (NPS), Grade Allowance, Special Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Family Allowance, Local Allowance, etc. at Mumbai at the minimum of this scale is approx. Rs. 1,07,000/- p.m. without accommodation and Rs. 73,000/- p.m. with accommodation.

If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree in any stream, you are eligible to apply for the Generalist post.
