There are several factors in eligibility criteria such as educational qualifications, age limit, relaxation in age limit, citizenship, eligibility of ex-servicemen, reservations, etc. which are given below:-

Nationality

 

The SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria also include the nationality of the candidates. The details regarding candidates' citizenship are as follows. A candidate must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A citizen of India.
  • A citizen of Nepal.
  • A citizen of Bhutan.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam intending to settle in India permanently.

Candidates falling under categories (b), (c), and (d) above must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

The SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2026 involves three main stages designed to assess candidates' skills and suitability for the positions of Stenographer Grade C (Group ‘B', Non-Gazetted) and Grade D (Group C) across various government ministries, departments, and organizations in India.

  • SSC Stenographer Dictation Duration: Candidates will receive a dictation time of 10 minutes in either English or Hindi, based on their preference selected during the online Application Form submission.

    • For Stenographer Grade ‘C': 100 words per minute (w.p.m.)
    • For Stenographer Grade ‘D': 80 words per minute (w.p.m.)
