SJVN inks Power Usage Agreement with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited for 300 MW Solar Power

SJVN Limited, through its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has signed a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL). Under the PUA, SGEL will supply 300 MW Solar Power capacity to JKPCL from the under-construction 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.

Chairperson & Managing Director, SJVN, Smt. Geeta Kapur informed that the Bikaner Solar Power Project is being developed by SJVN through SGEL under the CPSU Scheme of IREDA for Rs. 5,491 crores. The project is being developed under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode and is slated for commissioning by July 2024.

Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar launched the ‘Investor Information and Analytics Platform’ developed by IIT Madras. This platform has been developed by the Researchers at the Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing (CREST) of IIT Madras.

This platform will act as a one-stop shop for startups to seamlessly access Venture Capitalists (VCs) and investor networks, Govt schemes, and several other components of the startup landscape for all stakeholders. An important feature of this unique platform is “StartupGPT” which is an AI-based conversational platform.

NICDC and IIT Delhi join hands to enhance the development of greenfield smart cities

National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) under the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (FITT-IITD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi.

The objective of this MoU is to evaluate the optimality of locations for the development of Greenfield Industrial Smart Cities in India leveraging the principles and framework of PM GatiShakti. This initiative aligns with India’s vision to emerge as a global manufacturing hub, emphasizing the importance of data-driven, decision-making in sustainable futuristic urban planning.

Coal Based Power Generation in the Country Grows by 10%

From April to January 2024, India experienced a notable 6.60 % growth in power generation compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Particularly striking was the commendable 10.06% growth in coal-based power generation during this period. Despite the surging power demand, coal import for blending witnessed a significant decrease of 36.69% to 19.36 MT during Apr’23-Jan’24 from 30.58 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year. The statement reads, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February due to a prolonged illness.”

Amazon Pay gets final approval from RBI to operate as payment aggregator

Amazon Pay, the fintech arm of e-commerce major Amazon India, has received a payment aggregator license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the company. The fintech firm joins a list of companies that the central bank has granted authorization to operate as payment aggregators (PA) recently.

Food delivery major Zomato, and fintech firms Stripe and Tata Pay were among the companies to have bagged the license in January. They joined the likes of Razorpay, Cashfree Payments, and EnKash, which got approval last year. The company added that the authorization from the banking regulator would enable it to strengthen its distribution channels.

Cipla receives approval from drug regulator CDSCO for UTI drug

Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Cipla has received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to market plazomicin, an antibiotic, in India for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI), including pyelonephritis (kidney infection). Plazomicin is a new intravenous (IV) aminoglycoside, it retains activity against strains.

India’s poverty rate declined to 4.5-5% in 2022-23: SBI Research

India’s poverty rate declined to 4.5-5% in 2022-23, SBI Researcher, with rural poverty declining to 7.2% from 25.7% in 2011-12 and urban poverty down to 4.6% from a decade ago period, according to the new Household Consumption Expenditure Survey data. SBI Researchers estimated the new poverty line, or the basic level of consumption required was Rs 1,622 for rural areas.
