APPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 

The APPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern is broadly alike to the pattern of the IAS Exam, which is handled by the Union Public Service Commission. The APPSC carries various recruitment exams and assists the state government in matters of recruitment, transfers, and disciplinary action. Through the Group 1 Exam, the APPSC selects civil servants to fulfill prestigious posts such as Assistant Commissioner (Tax),  Deputy Collector, SP, etc. in the Andhra state administration. The updated APPSC Exam Pattern will be relevant for all recruitments to be published from now on [June 2021 onwards.]

The APPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern from June 2021 onwards is:

  1. There are two phases – Prelims, Mains [In June 2021, AP Government has declared to abstain from interviews for all state administration assessments including APPSC Group 1]
  2. The Prelims is comprised of two papers for a sum of 240 marks which is a Screening Examination
  3. Negative marking is there for wrong answers in Prelims
  4. Applicants who clear Prelims, arrive at the Main phase of the test 
  5. The Mains is a written-descriptive type exam that includes 7 theory papers
  6. There are two qualifying papers in Mains – Telugu and English
  7. Applicants’ marks in Mains will be included in the ultimate merit list. Added clarity on the total marks would be determined after the official APPSC announcement.

The applicants who clear the Mains stage have then required a meeting with the APPSC board. Typically, applicants are invited in the proportion of 2:1 regarding the number of jobs.

The ultimate merit list is made based on:

  1. Interview Round Marks 75 marks [This round has been discarded for all forthcoming enrollments. APPSC Group 1 2019 is the last evaluation Exam to have an Interview as the last stage.] 
  2. Applicants marks in Mains Exam out of 750 marks 
  3. Subsequently, out of a sum of 825 marks. [Total Marks Tally to adjust after elimination of the interview stage]
