Fostering Transparency through MBMA Scheme

Initiated by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on September 1, 2023, the “Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar” (MBMA) scheme has gained substantial momentum in promoting transparency and accountability in business transactions. This forward-thinking initiative encourages consumers to request bills from traders or shopkeepers during purchases, emphasizing the consumer’s right and the trader’s duty to issue a bill.

Recognizing Transparency: Cheque Awards for MBMA Participants

A noteworthy highlight of the event was the presentation of Rs 10 lakh cheque awards to six customers actively participating in the MBMA scheme. These winners exemplified their commitment to transparency by promptly uploading valid GST bills on the app after each purchase, setting a commendable precedent. Such incentives aim to inspire individuals to actively engage in the MBMA scheme, further embedding the practice of generating invoices during transactions.

Gujarat Paving the Way

Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman lauded Gujarat for taking the lead in establishing GST Seva Kendras, envisioning them as a beacon for other states to follow. She acknowledged the initial apprehensions surrounding the implementation of GST but emphasized the collaborative efforts with members of the GST Council in every state, ensuring the realization of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “One Nation, One Tax.”
