Promoting Inclusivity: Samajik Adhikarita Shivirs Across India

In a concerted effort to empower senior citizens and individuals with disabilities across the nation, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the Government of India, orchestrated ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivirs’ simultaneously at 72 locations nationwide. This ambitious initiative aimed to create an inclusive and accessible environment, ensuring the holistic development of these vulnerable groups.

A Unified Start: ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and Inaugural Ceremony

The event commenced with the broadcast of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode by the Honorable Prime Minister at each camp location, a source of inspiration that unites diverse voices and perspectives from every corner of India. Subsequently, Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, inaugurated the main event in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh, serving as the central hub connecting with various locations across 20 states and union territories.

In his address, Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar reiterated the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” emphasizing the implementation of centralized schemes designed to socially, culturally, educationally, and economically empower senior citizens. The overarching objective is to establish an inclusive and accessible environment conducive to their overall development.

Harnessing Technology: 3D Scanning for Prosthesis

The Ministry has placed significant emphasis on harnessing cutting-edge technology to manufacture high-quality aids and assistive devices for individuals with disabilities and senior citizens. Dr. Virendra Kumar highlighted the department’s focused exploration of 3D scanning technology for prosthesis production, with Tikamgarh being the pioneering district to benefit from this innovative initiative.

Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana: Benefitting 12,814 Senior Citizens

These meticulously organized camps aimed to distribute a variety of aid and assistive devices to more than 12,814 pre-identified senior citizens, in line with the Government of India’s Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana scheme. The overarching goal is to nurture an inclusive society across India, ensuring empowerment and dignified living for senior citizens, enabling them to lead productive, secure, and dignified lives.

Collaboration and Device Distribution: Samajik Adhikarita Shivirs

These distribution camps were executed in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The distribution events occurred simultaneously in various locations, with Kumari Pratima Bhaumik, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, gracing the event in Tripura’s Dhalai. All these distribution camps were seamlessly connected online to the main program venue in Tikamgarh.

Empowerment through Assistive Devices
