During the event, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw underscored the remarkable changes taking place in the northeastern states and Jammu & Kashmir. Over the past nine years, these regions have undergone significant transformations, showcasing the government’s commitment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s more than 60 visits to the North East underscore the special attention these areas have received. Following the abrogation of Article 370, the development of Jammu and Kashmir has gathered pace. The region even had the honor of hosting G20 meetings. In the realm of railways, substantial budget allocations have been made to expedite development projects. For the North East, the annual budget has risen to about Rs. 10,269 Crores, a substantial increase from the previous allocation of around Rs. 2,122 Crores. The Railway’s development projects are making notable progress, with plans for two Vande Bharat Trains in the North East. In Jammu & Kashmir, various projects, including the Chenab Bridge and Anji Bridge, are nearing completion, demonstrating the Railway’s commitment to the overall transformation of these regions.

The inauguration of the Vistadome coach between Banihal and Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir marked a significant step in enhancing the Union Territory’s development. Regular services for this train will commence from October 21, 2023.

Bridging Remote Areas with Dullabcherra-Guwahati Train

The introduction of Train No. 15617/15618 Dullabcherra-Guwahati Tri-weekly Train will create a direct link between the remote area of Dullabcherra and Guwahati. This connection will significantly benefit students, businessmen, and traders, as it eases their travel between these destinations. The train will operate three days a week, starting from Guwahati on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and from Dullabcherra on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Direct Connectivity Between Agartala and Mumbai

The extension of Train No. 12519/12520 Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilak Express (weekly) up to Agartala (Tripura) marks the introduction of a direct train service between the capital of Tripura and Mumbai. This development is set to benefit the people of the region, traders, and patients who often travel from Tripura to Mumbai for medical treatment. Regular services for this train will commence from October 22, 2023.

Facilitating Travel in Remote Areas with Agartala-Sabroom DEMU Train
