Turkey’s commitment to Palestine goes beyond rhetoric, translating into tangible actions to support political initiatives and secure international recognition. In 2012, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu personally attended the UN General Assembly vote, championing Palestine’s non-member observer State status. With the backing of 138 member states, Palestine attained this status, granting the right to participate in international agreements.

Economically, Turkey actively supports Palestine by implementing projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its people. The financial commitment surpasses 200 million Dollars, underscoring Turkey’s dedication to addressing the economic challenges faced by the Palestinian population.

Addressing Humanitarian Crises in Gaza

Turkey recognizes the pressing humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip and takes proactive measures to alleviate them. Collaborating with the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and relevant Palestinian authorities, Turkey’s International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) allocated $850,000 for fuel supply to critical services such as hospitals and wastewater pumping stations. In response to a call for emergency food aid by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Turkey contributed 10,000 tons of flour to the Gaza Strip. TİKA has also set aside $700,000 for the urgent provision of medicine and medical supplies in Gaza.
