UGC NET Job Alert Eligibility Criteria for Teaching Posts

To apply for the UGC NET Vacancy 2025 for Assistant Professor and JRF posts, candidates must meet the following UGC NET eligibility conditions:

UGC NET Educational Qualification for Teaching Posts

• A Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university is mandatory.
• General category candidates must secure at least 55% marks, while SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Third gender candidates are eligible with 50% marks.
• Degrees should be in relevant subjects as per UGC NET Paper II specialization.

UGC NET Age Limit for Teaching Posts

• Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum age is 30 years as of the exam date.
• Age relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/female applicants.
• Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit to apply.

NEP 2020 Updates (If Applicable)

As per the evolving guidelines under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, candidates with PhD degrees may get direct entry into Assistant Professor roles even without qualifying UGC NET, based on university-level recruitment policies.

Additionally, industry professionals and researchers with significant experience may be eligible under revised norms (subject to UGC approval).
