• அந்த குழுவிற்கு முதல்வர் தலைவராகவும், மனிதவளத்துறை அதிகாரியாகவும் இருப்பார்
• HR&CE செயலாளர் உறுப்பினராகவும், HR&CE கமிஷனர் உறுப்பினர்-செயலாளராகவும் இருப்பார்.

• தமிழ்நாடு மாநில ஆலோசனைக் குழுவின் உறுப்பினரான ஜீன் டிரேஸ் (Jean Drèze), தமிழ்நாட்டில் குடிமக்களின் தகவல் போர்ட்டலை (CIS) உருவாக்க பரிந்துரைத்துள்ளார்.
• இத்தகைய போர்டல் சமூக தணிக்கைகள் மற்றும் ஊழலைத் தடுப்பதற்கான பிற முயற்சிகளை எளிதாக்கும்.
• தகவல் அறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டத்தின் பிரிவு 4(2)ன் படி, தகவல் அறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டத்தை பற்றிய வினாக்களுக்காகக் காத்திருக்காமல், செயலூக்கமான முறையில் பொதுமக்களுக்கு தகவல்களைக் கிடைக்கச் செய்ய பொது நிறுவனங்கள் கடமைப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன.

உப்புநீக்கும் ஆலை

• சென்னையின் மூன்றாவது உப்புநீக்கும் ஆலையை கிழக்கு கடற்கரை சாலையில் உள்ள நெம்மேலியில் ஒரு நாளைக்கு 150 மில்லியன் லிட்டர் (எம்எல்டி) சுத்திகரிக்கும் திறனுடன் 2023-க்குள் கட்டி முடிக்கப்படும்.

அடையாறு சீரமைப்பு திட்டம்

• சில ஆண்டுகளில் அடையாறு ஆற்றின் விரிவான மறுசீரமைப்பின் ஒரு பகுதியாக வெள்ளக் கட்டுப்பாடு மற்றும் காலநிலைக்கு ஏற்ற உள்கட்டமைப்புக்கான முன்மொழிவுகளை உள்ளடக்கிய விரிவான திட்ட அறிக்கையை நீர்வளத் துறை (WRD) தயாரித்து வருகிறது.
• வெள்ளத் தணிப்பு மற்றும் ஒருங்கிணைந்த மேம்பாட்டிற்கான பணிகளைச் செய்ய ஆற்றின் மேற்பகுதியில் துறை அதிக கவனம் செலுத்துகிறது.
• ஆற்றின் நீர்பிடிப்பு கொள்ளளவை 25,000 கன அடியாக அதிகரிக்க 50-60 மீட்டருக்கு விரிவுபடுத்த திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• முல்லைப் பெரியாறு அணையைக் கட்டிய பிரிட்டிஷ் பொறியாளர் கர்னல் ஜான் பென்னிகுயிக் அவர்களின் சொந்த ஊரான இங்கிலாந்தில் உள்ள கேம்பர்லியில் அவரது சிலையை தமிழக அரசு நிறுவவுள்ளது.

Singara Chennai 2.0 Veedhi Vizha

• The Greater Chennai Corporation recently launched Singara Chennai 2.0 Veedhi Vizha, a cycling and walking initiative for residents of the city.
• As part of the festival, the Corporation has invited residents to take up the walking and cycling challenge this year.
• Nalamigu Chennai is one of the main themes of the Singara Chennai vision.
• The initiative is also part of the walking and cycling challenge among 75 cities in the country.

• New Police Commissionerates

• The government recently inaugurated Police Commissionerates in Tambaram and Avadi, which have been carved out of the Greater Chennai City police jurisdiction.
• The Tambaram police commissionerate will function with two police districts — Tambaram and Pallikaranai comprising 20 police stations.
•  The Avadi police commissionerate will function with two police districts of Avadi and RedHills comprising 25 police stations.
• Vellavedu, Sevvapet, Sholavaram and Minjur police stations have been attached to the Avadi commissionerate.

Iyothee Thass

• Iyothee Thass Pandithar is a legendary figure in classical Tamil literature and philosophy, and practitioner of the Siddha system of medicine who could also easily work in English, Sanskrit and Pali.
• After organizing the tribes of Nilgiris in the 1870s, he established Advaidananda Sabha in 1876.
• He launched a magazine called Dravida Pandian along with Rev John Rathinam in 1885.
• In 1886, Thass issued a statement, almost half-a-century before Ambedkar, saying that the so-called untouchables were not Hindus.
• Thass established ‘Dravida Mahajana Sabai’.
• Thass submitted a petition to the Congress Committee, with hundreds of signatures by Dalits, asking them to declare the word ‘pariah’ as contemptuous.
• During the time of the 1901 Census, he urged the untouchables to register themselves as casteless Dravidians.
• Thass also urged the British to refer to untouchables as ‘original Buddhists’ even if Dalits chose to mention their sub-caste.

Humayun Mahal

• The Public Works Department (PWD) has restored the historic Humayun Mahal in Chepauk Palace complex, Chennai.
• The 250-year-old Humayun Mahal was built in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture between 1868 and 1871.
• It functioned as Revenue department’s headquarters during the British era and then had various State government offices, including Horticulture and Revenue, functioning in the building.
• Humayun Mahal has nine halls on the ground floor and four on the first floor.

Pongal gift

• Recently, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu launched the distribution of Pongal gift hampers to over 2.15 crore rice ration cardholders and Sri Lankan Tamils living in camps across the State.
• Each hamper contains grocery items, including rice, jaggery, dry fruits, spices and sugarcane.
