Instituted in 2022, AUSTRAHIND’s inaugural edition took place in Mahajan, Rajasthan. The exercise is designed to be an annual training event, alternating between India and Australia.
Objectives of the Exercise: AUSTRAHIND-23 Exercise
The primary aim of AUSTRAHIND-23 is to cultivate a collaborative partnership and facilitate the exchange of best practices between the Indian and Australian armed forces. Moreover, the exercise intends to enhance interoperability, particularly in multi-domain operations within Urban and Semi-Urban terrain, aligning with Chapter VII of the United Nations on peacekeeping operations.

The joint exercise will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and the collective rehearsal of tactics, techniques, and procedures for tactical operations. The training curriculum encompasses various elements, including sniper firing and the coordinated operation of surveillance and communication equipment to achieve a high level of situational awareness.
Furthermore, the exercise will involve the rehearsal of casualty management and evacuation procedures, emphasizing tactical actions at the Company/Battalion level. This comprehensive training approach aims to hone the skills of the participating personnel across a spectrum of operational scenarios.
Fostering Understanding and Strengthening Defense Cooperation
Beyond the tactical and operational aspects, AUSTRAHIND-23 also plays a crucial role in promoting mutual understanding between the Indian and Australian militaries. The exercise is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening defense cooperation between these two friendly nations.
As the Indian Armed Forces embark on this joint military venture, AUSTRAHIND-23 stands as a testament to the commitment of both nations towards fostering collaboration, enhancing capabilities, and fortifying the bonds of friendship between their respective armed forces.
