For NABARD Grade A 2026 aspirants, knowing the syllabus is only the first step. The bigger question is: Which topics should be studied first, which topics have appeared repeatedly, and where should more revision time be given? To answer this, we have analysed 2021–2025 memory-based NABARD Grade A PYQs and grouped the questions into major ESI and ARD themes. The analysis covers 435 Phase 1 objective questions and 30 Phase 2 descriptive questions. It gives a practical view of the topics that have appeared more frequently in the analysed papers and can help aspirants build a focused preparation plan.

Note: The percentages mentioned in this blog are observed PYQ based on the analysed 2021–2025 memory-based question. They are not official NABARD weightage and should not be treated as a prediction of the number of questions in NABARD Grade A 2026.

What is the NABARD Grade A ESI topic-wise weightage?

The ESI analysis shows a clear concentration in four major areas: Financial Inclusion, Education/Health/Gender, Agriculture Economy/Rural Development, and Poverty/Employment. Together, these four clusters account for 157 out of 230 observed ESI questions, or 68.3% of the analysed dataset. What should 2026 aspirants understand from the ESI weightage?

The important point is not simply that Financial Inclusion has 47 questions. The bigger takeaway is that ESI is highly concentrated around development, welfare, financial inclusion and current economic and social issues. For 2026 preparation, candidates should therefore build their ESI notes around connected themes rather than studying every scheme separately.

Which ESI topics should NABARD Grade A 2026 aspirants study first?

Based on the analysed PYQ data, the ESI preparation sequence can be organised as follows:

PriorityTopics to Cover

P2 – Next PriorityGovernance, Rights, Institutions & Social Justice; MSME, Industry, Infrastructure & Entrepreneurship

This does not mean P3 topics can be skipped. It means that candidates can complete the high-frequency core first and then move towards lower-frequency areas.

What is the NABARD Grade A ARD topic-wise weightage?

The ARD pattern is different from ESI. Instead of one or two topics dominating the dataset, several ARD clusters have a similar number of questions. The five P1 clusters together account for 132 out of 205 questions, or 64.4%. When Horticulture is added, the six major clusters account for 156 questions, or 76.1% of the analysed ARD questions.

Which ARD topics are most important for NABARD Grade A 2026?

Which NABARD Grade A topics are important for Phase 2?

One of the most important findings from the analysis is that Phase 1 frequency and Phase 2 descriptive relevance are not always the same. The 30 descriptive questions analysed separately produced the following recurring themes:

SubjectTopicDescriptive Questions Observed
ESIFinancial Inclusion, Banking & Rural Credit5
ESITrade, Globalisation & International Institutions4
ARDAgri Economics, Marketing, Credit & Storage3
ARDForestry, Agroforestry & Ecology3
ESIPoverty, Employment & Social Protection3
ARDAnimal Husbandry, Dairy & Poultry2
ARDIrrigation, Water & Dryland Agriculture2

This creates two important examples for 2026 aspirants:

  • Trade has only 8 observed ESI objective questions, or 3.5% of the ESI dataset, but it has 4 descriptive prompts.
  • Forestry has only 6 observed ARD objective questions, or 2.9%, but it has 3 descriptive prompts.
  • Therefore, a topic with lower Phase 1 frequency should not automatically be ignored for Phase 2.

How should ESI and ARD be prepared differently for NABARD Grade A 2026?

The PYQ analysis shows that ESI and ARD require different preparation approaches. ESI questions are more focused on schemes, reports, government initiatives and current developments, while ARD questions are more focused on concepts and their practical application.

How to prepare ESI?

In the analysed ESI questions:

  • 95 questions were based on schemes and government programmes.
  • 54 questions were based on reports, data and current facts.
  • 45 questions were based on policies and institutions.
  • 36 questions were based on static concepts and their application.

This shows that ESI preparation requires more focus on important schemes, reports, government initiatives and recent updates.

For every important scheme, candidates should prepare the following details:

  • Ministry or organisation responsible for the scheme
  • Main objective
  • Target beneficiaries
  • Key benefits
  • Implementation or delivery mechanism
  • Funding pattern
  • Latest updates

For important reports, focus on:

  • Publisher
  • Main indicators
  • India-specific findings
  • Reference year

How to prepare ARD?

ARD requires a more concept-based preparation approach. In the analysed dataset, 143 out of 205 questions were classified as static concept or application-based questions. Therefore, candidates should focus on understanding the basic concepts and their practical application instead of only memorising facts.

For each ARD topic, prepare:

  • Definition
  • Classification
  • Key features
  • Examples
  • Important exceptions or special cases

This approach can be used for topics such as:

  • Soil types
  • Plant nutrients
  • Crops
  • Seeds
  • Animal breeds
  • Diseases
  • Irrigation methods
  • Farming systems
  • Agricultural practices

What should be the NABARD Grade A 2026 study order?

Instead of studying all topics with equal time, aspirants can use the PYQ analysis to create a study-first sequence.
