Big Changes Proposed in LPT Norms for IBPS RRB Clerk and PO 2025

Big Changes Proposed in LPT Norms for IBPS RRB Clerk and PO 2025: The IBPS has proposed major updates to the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) norms for RRB Clerk and PO recruitment. These changes aim to ensure that candidates are proficient in the local language of their respective RRB regions, fostering better communication with local communities.

Currently, candidates qualify as proficient if they studied the local language in Standard VIII or above or hold a valid certificate. Those lacking these qualifications have up to six months after joining to acquire language skills, with possible extensions during probation. However, this flexibility sometimes delays effective communication.

The proposed amendments prioritize language proficiency during the recruitment process. Applicants must demonstrate local language proficiency by Standard X studies or equivalent certification. Furthermore, candidates selected provisionally without these qualifications must pass an LPT before joining. Committees, formed under AOER 2017 rules, will oversee and evaluate these tests to ensure fairness.

NABARD and sponsor banks are reviewing the proposed changes and will provide feedback by December 2, 2024. If approved, these updates will make language proficiency a core requirement, enabling recruits to serve local populations effectively from day one.

Aspirants are advised to follow updates closely and prepare accordingly for the Big Changes Proposed in LPT Norms for IBPS RRB Clerk and PO 2025.
