History of CISF Raising Day
- The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India.
- It was established on March 10th, 1969, to provide security for vital industrial installations and government infrastructure.
- Initially, its primary function was to provide security to public sector undertakings engaged in critical industries like oil and gas, steel, and mining.
- Over time, its responsibilities expanded to include securing airports, seaports, nuclear power plants, and other vital government infrastructure.
Today, the CISF has grown into a multi-faceted force with a strength of over 163,590 personnel deployed across the length and breadth of India.
