- All companies with a turnover of 50 cr or more will be mandated to provide the facility of payment through RuPay debit card & UPI QR code to their customers beginning January 1, 2020.
- RBI has released the 20th Financial Stability Report which says that the global economy confronted a number of uncertainties that leads to significant deceleration in growth. RBI has forecasted India’s GDP growth as 5% in December.
- A 5-day long Mandu festival has started in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Mandu is a world-famous picturesque tourist destination located in Dhar district of the state.
- Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched the mobile app of the forthcoming DefExpo 2020. It is scheduled to be held in Lucknow, UP from Feb 5-8, 2020.
- Renowned musician and composer Ilaiyaraja has been selected for the Harivarasanam award for 2020. Award-comprises a cash prize of 1 lakh INR.
- India will be hosting the World Dairy Summit in 2022 in New Delhi. The next is planned in Sep-Oct 2020 at Cape Town, South Africa. Istanbul, Turkey, hosted the event in 2019.

- Christina Koch creates a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, surpassing the earlier record of Peggy Whitson- 288 days in space. She is the onboard the Space Station since 14th March 2019.
- The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) extended 300 million US $ as development aid to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
- BEML Ltd., a defense public sector, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IRCON International Ltd. to explore opportunities in the overseas market by synergizing each other’s strengths for large infrastructure projects in the transportation sector.

- Koneru Humpy won the women’s World rapid chess championship at the Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in Moscow, Russia.
- South Africa cricket team defeated England on the 4th day of 1st test at Centurion Park.
