VFX and Tech Pavilion: A Milestone Unveiling in Film Bazaar History

At the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the inauguration of the VFX and Tech Pavilion by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, marked a historic moment. Organized by NFDC as part of Film Bazaar, this pavilion stands as a groundbreaking showcase of the latest developments in animation, visual effects, virtual reality, and CGI.

Delving into the Diverse Landscape: VFX and Tech Pavilion

Minister Thakur explored various sections of the Pavilion during the inauguration, including the Cine Museum and Viewing Zones featuring content from major streaming platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix. The minister actively participated in a live demonstration of Sony’s full-frame Cinema Line Cameras and engaged with young filmmakers chosen under the “75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow” initiative. Additionally, he conversed with authors featured in the Book to Box section of the Tech Pavilion.

India’s Meteoric Rise in Media and Entertainment

Minister Thakur underscored India’s impressive journey, ascending from the 10th to the 5th largest media and entertainment economy globally. Expressing confidence in India’s potential, he declared, “Given the talent and the sheer volume of film and media content produced in the country, India is poised to become the 3rd largest Media and Entertainment Industry in the world.”

Embracing Technological Progress

Highlighting India’s openness to new technological interventions in film production, Minister Thakur emphasized the nation’s allure as a sought-after destination for film shoots and post-production. He encouraged content creators to harness evolving technology in media and filmmaking, with a specific focus on informing and educating audiences alongside providing entertainment.

Characterizing India as a post-production hub, Minister Thakur emphasized the pivotal role played by the newly established VFX and Tech Pavilion in enhancing post-production capabilities in filmmaking.

Immersive Narratives and Innovative Creations

Experts from creative and AI domains showcased the potential and advancements in moviemaking, unveiling virtual worlds, intelligent characters, and personalized experiences. Distinguished brands like Google Arts and Culture, Netflix, and Amazon actively participated, contributing to the exhibition of cinematic magic beyond the traditional camera lens.

Minister Thakur, joined by Ms. Neerja Sekhar and Mr. Prithul Kumar, expressed confidence in India’s narrative prowess.
