India is poised to make significant strides in the field of animal health and husbandry as it takes center stage for the 33rd Conference of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific. From November 13 to 16, 2023, the event will unfold in the dynamic city of New Delhi.

Distinguished Figures at the Helm:

Steering the inauguration and conclusion ceremonies is Shri Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying. Alongside, Union Ministers of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Dr. Sanjeev Balyan and Dr. L Murugan, actively contribute to various conference proceedings, adding to its distinguished presence.

Decision and Venue Choice:

The decision to convene this significant gathering was solidified during the 90th General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates of the WOAH in Paris in May 2023. The esteemed Hotel Taj Mahal in New Delhi was thoughtfully selected as the venue, seamlessly blending elegance with functionality to enhance the overall proceedings of the conference.

Under the aegis of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, the conference has attracted delegates from 36 member countries, including India. Furthermore, senior officers from regional and international organizations, along with representatives from the private sector and private veterinary organizations in the region, are actively participating. This diverse participant pool ensures a rich array of perspectives to address challenges and opportunities within the veterinary and animal husbandry domain.
