Assistant Professor:

You can become an assistant professor in any government or private university after clearing the NET. To become an assistant professor after July 2021, you would need a Ph.D., according to the UGC regulations. Your pay scale will depend on the institution you work for.

Researcher:

You can choose a topic that you’re absolutely passionate about and that has the scope of developing into a long-term project. 

Public Sector Job (PSU): 

Many UGC NET JRF holders can go for a Public Sector Job. The JRF scorecard serves as a gateway to many Public Sector Jobs.

UGC NET Salary For The Position Of Assistant Professor

Persons appointed to the post of assistant professor will draw a salary in the range of Rs 25,000.00 to 50,000.00 at the start.  The variation in salary is wide.  The reason for the wide range in the initial salary is caused by two major factors:

  1. The skills that the candidate comes with 
  2. The university where the candidate secures the appointment
  3. The post being of a professor or assistant professor
  4. Whether or not the candidate holds a PhD degree.

Salary Structure Of UGC NET Qualified Candidates

Generally, those who qualify for UGC NET tend to apply to government or Private Colleges. Those who apply to Private colleges will receive Rs.20,000.00 to Rs. 60,000.00 based on their experience and qualification, according to the UGC NET salary range. For those applying to Government colleges, there will generally be a fixed pay scale that comprises Basic Pay, LTA, HRA, DA, etc. The monthly salary will generally be between Rs. 55,000.00 to Rs. 1,05,000.
