The South Indian Bank Ltd. is a Premier Scheduled Commercial Bank in India.  It has invited Indian nationals to apply for the position of PO (Probationary Officers) in Scale I Cadre. All candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria in all respects can place their online application.  They can apply online via the official website of the bank, which is www.southindianbank.com. If applicants send their applications via e-mail, post, or other means, the applications will not be accepted. Every candidate needs to have a valid e-Mail ID in their name ready prior to registration.

The recruitment process for the post of Probationary Officer in the South Indian Bank is open to only Indian Nationals with 2 years of relevant experience.  

Eligibility Criteria 

The Bank lays down the eligibility criteria, which candidates can access through the notification posted here. Before we go into the criteria in detail, let’s take a quick look at the table below:

Age	Candidates must not be older than 28 years. They should be born before 01.08.1993 or after 31.07.2003, both days being inclusive.
Educational Qualification	Candidates must have graduated with a minimum of 50% under the 10+2+3/4 scheme for regular courses.
Minimum Work Experience	A minimum of 2 years of service in Officer cadre in any Scheduled  Commercial Bank/Urban Co-operative Bank/Small Finance Bank/Banking Subsidiary
Preferred Area of Experience	Branch Operations, Liability Sales, Risk Management Collection and Recovery, Credit Retail and MSME Underwriting MSME Relationship/Sales Manager, Gold loan Business, Credit Mid Office Functions

For the Educational Qualification-related Recruitment Criteria

• The Applicant must have a minimum Full-time Graduation degree from any stream from a recognized university. In graduation, the candidate must have attained a minimum of 50% marks (under the 10+2+3/4 scheme).  Candidates who have done graduation or schooling through distance education their application shall be rejected. 
• Those graduates who obtained admission into the engineering stream via lateral entry need to have got X/SSLC, XII/HSC, and a minimum of 50% in graduation and Polytechnic/ Diploma. 
• The online applications of candidates need to specify their percentage to two decimal points.  If CGPA/ OGPA has been awarded, it needs to be converted to a percentage and clarified in the application online. 
• At the time of the interview, the candidate must furnish the certificate issued by an eligible authority inter alia stating University norms for converting grade to percentage and the percentage marks attained by the applicant based on the conversion. 
• If marks are not awarded but Grade/ CGPA is, only applicants who have got 50% or higher equivalent CGPA/ Grade should apply, or the application will be rejected.
• Persons who do not have a minimum of 50% in graduation are not eligible for the position. Please note that even 49.99% will not be considered to be 50%.
• To calculate the percentage of marks, you need to divide the total marks attained in all subjects across all semesters/years by the maximum marks in all subjects be they honours marks or marks of the optional or additional subjects. 

For the Work Experience-related Recruitment Criteria, the applicant is required to have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as Officer Cadre with any of the following

• Banking Subsidiary
• Scheduled Commercial Bank
• Small Finance Bank
• Urban Cooperative Bank

For the Age-related Recruitment Criteria

Any candidate applying for the post of Probationary Officer with the South Indian Bank should not be over 28 years of age.  The candidate should be born on or after 01-08-1993 and on or before 1-07-2003 (both days inclusive).

Process Of Recruitment

The Recruitment process is a two-stage process comprising:

• Online Test
• Interview

Candidates whose applications are found to be in order will be called for the Online Test. Out of the candidates who clear the Online Test, an adequate number will be shortlisted and invited for the interview round. Being eligible in every respect does not vest in the applicant any right to be invited for the Interview round. 

The South Indian Bank vests in itself the right to modify the selection process taking into account the number of candidates who have applied for the position and even decide how many candidates need to be invited for the round of Interviews. 

In case of any matter associated with the selection and eligibility of candidates, the decision of the South Indian Bank will be considered as final, and the Bank shall not entertain any correspondence in this regard.

Salary 

The South Indian Bank Salary for Probationary Officers is based on Scale I of the IBA Package. The initial salary is Rs. 36,000. The Payscale is Rs. 36,000 – 1,490/7 – 46,430 – 1,740/2 – 49,910 – 1,990/7 – 63,840. They will also be eligible for Performance Linked Incentives and other benefits available to Scale I officers.

How To Apply

Applicants must visit the bank’s website to apply online for the exam. The bank will not accept any other modes of application for the exam. Applicants must ensure that they have a valid email address before proceeding with the registration to apply. 

Application Fee

The Application Fee for the South Indian Bank Exam is Rs. 800 including GST. Once the application fee has been paid, it will not be repaid. Therefore, only those who meet the criteria should apply for the exam.
