How I Cleared RBI Assistant 2016? – Success Story Of Ria Bhadra

Read the success story of Ria who despite having a 10-hour job nailed the RBI Assistant exam. She believes that “Once you choose hope, anything is possible”. Other than RBI Assistant and UBI PGDBF (AIR 16), she cleared other exams as well like IBPS RRB PO, SBI JA.

1. Here’s The Success Story of Ria Bhadra

Hello, everyone! I am Ria Bhadra, a 2015 pass out, B.tech grad from B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology, Kolkata. I joined Cognizant in the same year.

2. My Journey So Far

I have seen most of my family members as part of Government Service which allured me to try my luck in this arena. Just after joining Cognizant, I appeared for SBI PO Prelims 2015. This was my first ever government service exam.

Though I failed to qualify due to zero level of preparation (cut off was 47.50 & my score was 44.75) but the performance boosted up my self-confidence and made me influenced to set in with a planned preparation. Because at the end of the day we are all the same who need to fight for only one seat.

Then I started appearing for various exams and my first success was back to back qualifying for the IBPS Clerk 2015 mains and WBSETCL office executive written exam 2016. From here, my journey gets positive zest.

I joined various mock test series. Then I qualified for SBI PO 2016 Mains. When I came to know about the Oliveboard mock test series but I hardly had any time left for my exam. I joined this and found it a little bit difficult. That year SBI PO Mains paper was a shocking surprise for the aspirants.

Oliveboard mock level was more or less tantamount to the SBI PO mains level. Though I could not get enough time to solve all the mock tests, I passed the mains. But due to fewer marks in mains paper, I could not qualify for the final list after the interview.

From here, I relied on OB series very much, improved a lot and cleared all the mains exam which I have appeared in 2016 (IBPS PO 2016, RRB PO 2016, NIACL AO 2016, IPPB Assistant Manager 2016, PFRDA Grade A 2017) & finally listed AIR 16 in the final list of United Bank of India PGDBF PO 2016 & qualified for SBI Junior Associate 2016 too.

I joined SBI in January 2017 and kept appearing for other exams by giving mock tests of Oliveboard. My long-lasting dream came true on the day of 22nd February 2017 when I finally found my name in the coveted list of the RBI Assistant!!

3. Here’s Ria’s Section-Wise Preparation Strategy

3.1 Quant Section Preparation Strategy

Since I am a little bit strong and confident in this subject I didn’t have to put much hard work to grasp all the concepts. What I did here is to write down all the important formulas, tables, squares, cubes in a copy and kept on revising it.

3.2 English Section Preparation Strategy

Being a vernacular medium student I always consider myself as an average student in this area. So, I started reading ‘The Hindu’, wrote down all the new words or proverbs and made sentences with that. When I started with ‘The Hindu’ I felt bored. But now it is almost 5 years and I still read it daily. It helped me overall in English.

3.3 Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

This is the section where no one can master unless having a good amount of practice from various sources. Oliveboard’s mock tests came here as a savior.

3.4 GK Section Preparation Strategy

I am still in a habit to read out and write down daily current affairs from various sources. Oliveboard’s BOLT series is one among them.

Last but not the least, which I have done numerous times was to solve as many mock tests as possible from OB and minutely check the analysis. An analysis is the most important part to keep you in the race!!

4. Let’s See How Oliveboard Helped Ria

In a nutshell along with other factors, I am also indebted to Oliveboard. The difficulty level of the mock tests is very high which will definitely make aspirants face any kind of intricate pattern in the real exam.

I used to give the mock tests diligently and write down all the analyses & kept revising them which made my performance more effective in the examination hall.

Recently I have also appeared for RBI Grade B Mains 2019 (though couldn’t clear it). I found that the ESI Government schemes part and the Finance Management part from OB were lucid and helpful along with the mock tests.

Finally, I would like to say to all the fellow aspirants, do not lose hope. Keep practicing and revising with a focused approach. Don’t panic and overthink about the huge number of competitors.

Because among lakhs of aspirants only a few thousands are serious about cracking this. Give all types of competitive exams whichever came in your way. If I can do it despite having a 10-hour job you can also nail it.

All the best!!

That brings us to the end of the Success Story of Ria. Hope you are inspired and motivated by her journey.  Follow her section-wise preparation tips and who knows next success story could be yours. All the best for your Exam Preparation.
