Success Story of Shailesh Kumar Bhoi

Introduction

I’m Shailesh Kumar Bhoi. Born and brought up in a small town in the Kalahandi district of Odisha. After completing my graduation in B.A. (political science honors) I thought of preparing for bank exams. I wasn’t eligible for SBI PO this year due to the age criteria. So IBPS PO was the only job I had applied for and I’m glad to have cleared it in my first attempt.

Brief Description

During the three years of my graduation, I used to prepare for UPSC but for some reason I had to shift to bank exams. I started preparing in March 2021 and the prelims was in December. So I had prepared for roughly 9 months. Many hurdles and psychological barriers were there but after seeing the positive result, I feel everything was worth it.

Preparation Strategy

i. Quant – For prelims, work on your speed math. You need to be very good at calculation. For mains, work on your basics, and do the arithmetic chapters properly. And practice as many questions as possible.

ii. Reasoning – Puzzle is the key in prelims. Practice at least 15 puzzles a day until you feel confident in this section. For mains, the same clichèd answer- Practice as much as possible.

iii. English – Read whatever interests you, be it a novel or an article or a newspaper. Reading will help you improve your comprehension skills and make you more familiar with the language. Moreover, don’t take English as a subject, rather consider it as a skill. That will make your learning journey enjoyable.

iv. GA – Study the last 4 months’ current affairs thoroughly. Follow one video source and one good pdf source. Keep revising until you don’t have the facts at your fingertips.

Role of Oliveboard

I had used Oliveboard’s mock tests and I have no hesitation in saying that Oliveboard’s mocks are one of the best in the market. The interface, analytics, and standard of questions – everything is up to the mark.

Tips or advice for fellow aspirants

I feel mocks are the panacea for bank exams. Try to inculcate giving mocks into your habit. Analyze your mocks properly. Take one step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Improvement will come gradually. Have patience and faith in your process. Figure out the best strategy that works for you because there’s no ‘one size fits all’. Have the right attitude, because ultimately that will help you sustain in the course of your journey. Hustle hard and join the banking industry as soon as possible.
