  1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme

Nodal Ministry:  Tri-ministerial effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare, and Human Resource Development

Goal :

  • To address the issue of decline in CSR in 100 gender critical districts
  • Celebrate the Girl Child & Enable her Education

Objectives:

  • Prevent gender-biased sex selective elimination
  • Ensure survival & protection of the girl child
  • Improve the child sex ratio
  • Ensure gender equality and women empowerment
  • Encourage education and participation of the girl child

Details:

The scheme has 2 major components:

  • Mass Communication Campaign and
  • Multi-sectoral action in 100 selected districts (as a pilot) with adverse CSR, covering all States and UTs

2. One Stop Centre Scheme

Nodal Ministry:  Ministry of Women and Child Development

Goal:

To support all women affected by violence (physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and economic in private and public spaces, within the family, community, and at the workplace.

Objectives:

  • To provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof.
  • To facilitate immediate, emergency, and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological, and counseling support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.

Details:

  • It is a sub-scheme of the National Mission for Empowerment of Women
  • Services offered to women include:
  1. Emergency Response and Rescue Services 
  2. Medical assistance
  3. Assistance to women in lodging FIR /NCR/DIR
  4. Psycho-social support/counseling
  5. Legal aid and counselling
  6. Shelter
  7. Video Conferencing Facility of Court and Police proceedings

Funding:

Funded through Nirbhaya Fund and the central government provides 100% financial assistance to the state governments /Union Territories administrations.

2. Women Helpline Scheme

Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Women and Child Development

Goal :

To provide 24 hours immediate and emergency response to women affected by violence through referral and information about women-related government schemes programs across the country through a single uniform number.

Objectives :

  • To provide toll-free 24-hours telecom service to women affected by violence seeking support and information.
  • To facilitate crisis and non-crisis intervention through referral to the appropriate agencies such as police/Hospitals/Ambulance services/District Legal Service Authority (DLSA)/Protection Officer (PO)/OSC.
  • To provide information about the appropriate support services, government schemes, and programs available to the woman affected by violence, in her particular situation within the local area in which she resides or is employed.

Details :

  • Under the WHL Scheme, the States/UTs will utilise or augment their existing women helplines through a dedicated single national number.
  • Department of Telecommunication, Government of India has allocated shortcode 181 to all States/UTs which is being used by some States/UTs such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh as Women Helpline.
