Hinduja Group gets IRDAI approval for Reliance Capital acquisition

Hinduja Group’s IndusInd International Holdings (IIHL) on May 10 received the long-awaited Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India’s approval for the acquisition of Reliance Capital. The approval is valid for three months and subject to certain “regulatory, statutory, and judicial clearances/compliances”.

The acquisition will include the takeover of Reliance Capital’s insurance arms — wholly-owned subsidiary Reliance General Insurance and 51:49 JV with Nippon Life, Reliance Nippon Life Insurance. The insurance regulator has cleared the transfer of Reliance Capital’s 26% stake in Reliance Nippon Life to Aasia Enterprises.

Army and IAF conduct joint exercises at multiple locations in the Punjab

The Kharga Corps, under the aegis of the Indian Army’s Western Command, has completed Gagan Strike-II, a three-day joint exercise conducted at multiple locations in Punjab to refine processes and validate the employment of attack helicopters in support of mechanized operations in developed terrain.

The exercise, incorporating Apache and ALH-WSI helicopters, unarmed aerial vehicles, and the Army’s Special Forces, was aimed at validating and exercising various force multipliers in support of the ground offensive by the Strike Corps, along with live firing by helicopters as demanded by mechanized forces during offensive maneuvers.

The ISO 42001:2023 certification provides a roadmap and systematic approach to AI management through risk mitigation and streamlined processes. India contributes $5,00000 to U.N. Counter-Terrorism Trust Fund

India has contributed $500,000 to the U.N. Counter-Terrorism Trust Fund, underscoring its commitment to support multilateral efforts in the global fight against the scourge of terrorism. Since 2018, India has also been actively supporting programs combating threats. With its current contribution, India’s cumulative financial support to the trust fund now stands at $2.55 million

The contribution is a testament to India’s commitment to international cooperation on countering terrorism and continued implementation of the announcement made by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to contribute to the trust fund during the special meeting of the counter-terrorism committee held in New Delhi in October 2022 under India’s presidency of the body.

Renowned Urdu litterateur and academician, Shaikh Abdussalam Abdurrazzaq, famous by his pseudonym Salam Bin Razzaq, passed away. Razzaq won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for Urdu literature for his acclaimed short stories collection, ‘Shikasta Buton Ke Darmiyan’, in 2004.
