India, Nepal sign pact to link UPI, NPI for faster remittances

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) signed and exchanged Terms of Reference (ToR) to integrate fast payment systems of India and Nepal through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) of India and the National Payments Interface (NPI) of Nepal, respectively.

The integration is aimed at facilitating cross-border remittances between India and Nepal by enabling users of the two systems to make instant, low-cost fund transfers.

Multipurpose Octocopter: Army Havildar honored for designing an innovative drone

An Indian Army Havildar has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by President Droupadi Murmu for designing an innovative drone called ‘Multipurpose Octocopter’, which can not only undertake surveillance operations but can also be used for other tasks like dropping munitions, aerial engagement of targets and logistics operations.

The ‘Multipurpose Octocopter’, designed by Havildar Singh, can undertake surveillance operations by providing live-camera feed to the operator. It can be used to drop essential supplies to forward posts, including in high-altitude areas.

The octocopter has been equipped with a platform for firing assault rifles and dropping grenades onto enemy targets.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) achieved a significant milestone by becoming the only ministry to cross the figure of Rs 1 lakh crore Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) since its inception in 2016.

GeM is an online platform for public procurement in India envisaged by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

This initiative was launched on August 9, 2016, by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to create an inclusive, efficient, and transparent platform for buyers and sellers to carry out procurement activities fairly and competitively.

PM Modi lays foundation stone for NLC India’s solar power plant in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone for NLC India Ltd’s 300-MW solar power project in Barsingsar, Rajasthan.

The prime minister also laid the foundation stone of other solar projects in the state.

The total cost of NLC India’s solar project is estimated at Rs 1,756 crore and it is scheduled to be commissioned in September.

NLC India is a Navratna company under the Coal Ministry.
