Hello everyone,

My name is Shayon Ghosh. I am a B.B.A Graduate and I’ve been allotted in Syndicate Bank [West Bengal].

I am an ardent follower of Oliveboard and thanks to the entire team for their unending support. The content provided by OB is tremendously helpful to have a strong hold on the subjects. Also, the mock tests provided by Oliveboard are closest to the actual IBPS exam and it is available at the best price in the market.

My story began when I was tired of a hectic private job and I was looking for alternatives in other companies. Meanwhile I reached out to some of my seniors and they said that the job market in Kolkata (my native place) is deteriorating and it will tough for someone to get a secure job. They suggested me to go for a banking job and therefore sit for IBPS exam.

As Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me 8 hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first 6 sharpening the axe”. Strategy is undoubtedly the most important move in any battle and the first and foremost step in strategizing a battle is to undergo a complete research on it. Likewise, the first thing I did prior to commencing my preparation was research. I analyzed previous year’s paper of IBPS exam and tracked all the important topics which also made me acquainted with the difficulty level of the questions and the type of questions expected in the exam.

Next, I searched the internet to figure out the best online study material and mock test. Oliveboard website impressed me immensely. Having done that I started my preparation for SBI and IBPS. I knew I started preparation a bit late (in March’16) but I was aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I purchased the Oliveboard test series for SBI PO, SBI Clerk, IBPS PO, and IBPS Clerk and kept on appearing and rigorously analyzing mocks. This is a good way to know your competition; if not 20 lakh then at least 40,000-50,000.

I cleared SBI PO and SBI Clerk Preliminary exam handsomely but the real shock of the season came with the Mains paper which was extremely difficult due to new question pattern. I could not clear both these exams but I kept on learning from my mistakes. I geared up my preparation level for IBPS as it is known to follow the footsteps of SBI. In the meantime the Oliveboard mock tests also went a level higher (kudos to that). This gave a boost to my preparation strategy and I found ways to answer questions smartly.

The next surprise (or rather deadly shock) of the year was presented by IBPS in PO Mains exam. It went a notch higher than that of SBI and made a hell of a Mains paper. I was almost on the verge of giving up but then I thought “Winners never Quit!“. So I kept my preparation going for IBPS Clerk which was the last hope for me. Meanwhile the IBPS PO result was out and I missed it by 1.5 marks-courtesy my GK marks. I performed decently well in Quants, Reasoning and English.

Now, I exactly knew what I needed to work on and kept preparing GK from Oliveboard daily current affairs video and pdf. We all know that West Bengal cut offs are generally on a higher side and to make that cut one needs to have an expertise in at least 4 out of 5 sections. I was sure of my performance in Reasoning, Quant and English but what gave me an extra edge is the GK section in IBPS Clerk Mains paper.

Ultimately on 1^st April, 2017 I nailed it!

 

My suggestion: “The more you sweat in PRACTICE the less you bleed in battle”.

Study smartly which will help you to raise the bar so that you need not to care about your competition. Once you apply for any exam don’t stop until you crack it. Just be honest with yourself and have faith. YOU CAN DO IT…!!
