Key Objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), UNDP India and Nabard have outlined several pivotal objectives:

Open-Source Data Sharing: Both organizations are committed to actively sharing open-source data, providing the groundwork for product development and the transfer of agricultural technology.

Policy Support: The partnership extends support for shaping agrarian policies that could significantly impact the future of Indian agriculture.

Digital Public Goods: A central focus is on enhancing and disseminating collaborative digital public goods, exemplified by “DiCRA” (Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture).

DiCRA – Transforming Agriculture Through Data

At the core of this partnership is DiCRA, a digital initiative crafted by UNDP and its partner organizations. DiCRA plays a crucial role by offering open access to critical geospatial datasets essential for climate-resilient agricultural practices. Presently, DiCRA provides intelligence and insights into climate resilience for an impressive 50 million hectares of farmland across the nation.

Nabard Takes the Lead: Indian Agriculture

In this strategic partnership, Nabard will shoulder the responsibility of hosting and maintaining the DiCRA platform. Furthermore, it will harness the power of DiCRA’s key geospatial datasets for policy-making, research, and development activities, with the technical expertise provided by UNDP.
