Master’s Degree/ Post Graduate Diploma* (minimum two years’ duration) in any
discipline/ Bachelor’s Degree in Law/ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a
recognized University/ Institute or Chartered Accountant/ Chartered Financial Analyst/
Company Secretary/ Cost Accountant.

SEBI General Stream Phase 1 Exam Pattern
The Phase 1 Exam will consist of two papers, both of which will have the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Check the detailed pattern below:
- There shall be negative marking (1/4th of marks assigned to the question) for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in Phase I.
- For Paper 1, the cut off is 30% and for Paper 2, the cut off is 40%. The aggregate cut off for both papers is 40%.
- The maximum marks for both papers is 100 marks each.
- The duration of paper 1 is 60 minutes whereas the duration of paper 2 is 40 minutes.

SEBI General Stream Phase 2 Exam Pattern
The Phase 2 Exam will consist of two papers for 100 marks each. Paper 1 will be descriptive test and paper 2 will have MCQs. Check the detailed pattern below:
- The maximum marks for both the papers are 100.
- For Paper 1, the duration is 60 minutes whereas for paper 2, the duration is 90 minutes.
- The cut off for paper 1 is 30%, whereas for paper 2 it is 40%, and the aggregate cut off is 50%.

SEBI Grade A Generalist Salary 2025
The SEBI Grade A officers have a pay scale of ₹62,500 – 3,600 (4) – 76,900 – 4,050 (7) – 1,05,250 – EB – 4,050 (4) – 1,21,450 – 4,650 (1) – 1,26,100 over 17 years. At the minimum of this scale in Mumbai, the gross monthly salary including SEBI’s contribution to NPS and allowances is approximately ₹1,84,000 without accommodation and ₹1,43,000 with accommodation. Officers also enjoy several other benefits such as medical facilities, leave fare concession, education allowance, conveyance support, subsidized lunch, and more.
