Most SSC CGL success stories begin with confidence. Sintu Das’s story began with negative marks.
His first SSC CHSL attempt left him with minus two marks in English, and an overall score of around 35–40. Instead of quitting, that moment became the turning point that pushed him towards cracking SSC CGL.
Today, Sintu has achieved something few aspirants do. He cracked SSC CGL twice, secured the GST Inspector post in both 2024 and 2025, and improved his chances of getting his preferred home-state posting.
His journey proves that consistent preparation and smart mock practice can outweigh a lack of coaching.
From Government School to Government Job
Sintu grew up in Deoghar, Jharkhand, and studied entirely in government schools due to financial constraints. In Class 12, he chose Science with dreams of pursuing IIT, but circumstances forced him to rethink his path.
Instead of chasing engineering, he chose BA in History so he could dedicate more time to competitive exams.
During the 2020 lockdown, while scrolling through YouTube after spending time on PUBG, he discovered SSC preparation content. With Mathematics already being his strongest subject, he decided to give SSC CHSL a chance.
His first result was disappointing, but it became the motivation he needed.

His First Government Job Changed Everything
After rebuilding his preparation, Sintu appeared for multiple SSC exams in 2021.
He cleared:
- SSC GD
- SSC MTS
- SSC CHSL
He chose to join Postal Assistant in West Bengal, as it was closer to home than his MTS posting in Mumbai.
But his ultimate goal never changed.
“I always wanted GST Inspector through SSC CGL.”
Missing CGL by Two Marks
His first SSC CGL attempt didn’t end the way he hoped.
In SSC CGL 2023, he cleared Tier 1 but missed the final selection by just two marks.
Instead of blaming luck, he identified a real weakness: mock test quality.
The platform he had used earlier offered easier mock tests, which didn’t reflect the actual difficulty of the CGL exam.
That realization changed his preparation completely.

He also believes that option elimination is one of the most underrated skills in SSC exams.

Cracking SSC CGL Twice
His comeback worked.
In SSC CGL 2024, he secured the post of GST Inspector.
Instead of stopping there, he appeared again in SSC CGL 2025, improved his performance, and strengthened his chances of getting his preferred location.
For Sintu, success wasn’t about clearing one exam.
It was about proving that every setback could become preparation for the next attempt.
