Success Story of Rudranarayan Sahoo – Cleared SBI PO & SBI Clerk 2019

Read the success story of Rudranarayan Sahoo, a Science graduate, who went on to clear SBI PO & CLERK in 2019 after multiple failures and obstacles in his path. In spite of coming from a rural area and having low marks in academics, he did not lose hope and worked hard to give wings to his dreams.

Here is his inspiring story:

Hello everyone, I am Rudranarayan Sahoo from Odisha. I have cleared SBI PO and SBI Clerk, 2019. I am a graduate in Science having Zoology as my honors subject. Here I am sharing my journey experience and how I could make it despite coming from an underdeveloped rural village and having poor educational records.

I was a bad performer in schools. Even though I passed my intermediate with a mere second division. Due to which there was a time when I got rejected by 7/8 colleges to take admission for graduation. After a lot of struggle, I got in an Autonomous college and took zoology as Honours. Because my marks were not good enough for physics or chemistry. But that was not the end. During my third semester, my father had a stroke. That was a trauma for the whole family. I attended my father in the hospital for three months. After this event, I was hardly attending any class in my college. I was only writing the semester examinations without much preparation. Like this, I graduated with a very low percentage. But lucky enough to get a first division (that was 60.50%).

With such a bad base it was challenging for me to gather confidence. But one thing I was sure that I will get at least something. But truly saying SBI PO was an unachievable dream for me. I was actually seeing myself at clerk levels. I went to Bhubaneswar to take coaching for bank exams. SSC was not my choice. In the month of April 2017, I started my coaching. I wrote IBPS PO, IBPS CLERK, IBPS RRB PO, IBPS RRB CLERK in 2017 but failed badly in prelims. Even I was getting 30-35 marks in the prelims. The reason was that I was not good at concepts. And I was very bad at Quantitative Aptitude. I was scoring 6-7 marks in prelims.

Coaching classes ended and I ended up with nothing in my head. It was the time for self-assessment and went forward to assess my weak and strong areas. I found the fundamental concepts lacking in me. With the onset of 2018, I revamped myself. I started again. I learned the concepts again from YouTube videos from the roots. I revised again and again. I downloaded questions pdf and solved them. The first prelims that I cleared was SBI Clerk 2018. I got delighted. But till then I had no experience of Mains. I worked on my GK section day and night but I failed miserably. After that, I could not clear any prelims.

I again assessed myself. That I have learned the basics but not a variety of levels. Then one of my friends told me that #Oliveboard is best in the market and can be extremely helpful in covering my weak areas. I bought  #Oliveboard season ticket test series in the month of August and started giving mock tests. I was scoring very low in tests. I analyzed more. The analysis helped me master all levels. Actually analysis is more important than giving tests. At the end of September, I appeared for IBPS PO Prelims and it went well. It was the only exam I cleared beside SBI Clerk last year but failed miserably in the Mains. Reason being that I was not ready for IBPS PO/SBI PO mains level.

I did not lose hope and thought to give a try again. At the beginning of 2019, I bought the yearly subscription of Oliveboard. It was actually the game changer for me. I was not watching YouTube videos anymore and just focused on giving mocks daily and analyzing then on a regular basis. In this way, I gave more time, more focus on studying.

In 2019 I cleared every prelims I gave except LIC AAO  because it was held just the day after cyclone Fani. The first Mains that I gave in 2019 was NIACL AO in which I failed with very few marks. This boosted my confidence even more. The first exam I cleared this year was IDBI Executive. Actually I can say IDBI was a stepping stone. Clearing IDBI Executive was a superb event for me and my family. But due to medical reasons, the posting was delayed for Odisha circle for November month. In due course, I cleared SBI PO Prelims and SBI Clerk prelims. I appeared both the mains in succession with more furnished preparation and crystal clear GENERAL AWARENESS section. General AWARENESS section was actually the game-changer. And for mains, Oliveboard prepared me with the best level.

I think Oliveboard is the only player which is providing the exact exam level mock test series. This time my attempts were high enough. I cleared the SBI PO Mains. For Interview I researched a lot. I watched hundreds of videos on YouTube. I watched live interviews in Oliveboard YouTube channel. I appeared the Interview but it did not go well. I was actually not sure about SBI PO. Results came and I was in. I cleared the pinnacle of banking exams. The gigantic SBI PO. Marks of GD PI was only 31 out of 50. But my score in mains was high enough to clear the cut off with good margin. Thanks to Oliveboard for such wonderful mock test series. After some days SBI CLERK results came and again I was in.

I want to share some of my tips to my fellow aspirants.

1- Confidence First – It may be tough, but not impossible. Remember. what you aspire is what you can achieve. So hope high.

2- Do some research and analysis – First confirm about the job profile. This sets your seriousness. Know about the latest exam patterns thoroughly and analyze the previous year cut off. Make a personal plan for different sections and give the exams accordingly.

3-Be tech smart– There are a lot of resources now which are up to date with current levels. Make the best use of them. Watch YouTube videos and master concepts. Students complain more about English. I mastered English watching YouTube videos. Solve daily quiz from various apps. Oliveboard daily quiz is excellent.

4- Give mocks daily. – Daily try to solve 1/2/3 mocks according to your time. Buy yearly subscription from a good site. Oliveboard is best in class.

5- GA is the Game Changer. – Read GKs from day 1. Maths, reasoning, English will clear your prelims. But GA is master of mains. Read GA daily. It will help you clear every exam.

6- Stay away from disturbing elements. – Stay away from things that consume your time. Those may be social networking sites, tiktok, pubg anything.

Every student has a signature preparation strategy. Make your own timings, your own plans and act accordingly. And if you give your 100% your chances for success is 100%.

At last I Thank Oliveboard a million times. It was my signature companion. Heartily recommend it to all the aspirants. Try oliveboard. You can feel the change.
