Specific Points for Different Category-wise Vacancies
Punjab Police and Punjab Government reserve the right to increase or reduce the number of announced vacancies for the post of Punjab Police Constable. This change can be made at any time prior to the process of recruitment is completed. No prior notice needs to be given to the candidates either by Punjab Police or the Punjab Government while increasing or decreasing the number of Punjab Police Constable vacancies.
The vacancies that have been reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and the Backward Classes will be implemented strictly and in line with the Punjab Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes (Reservation in Services) Act, 2006, as amended from time to time, as well as Punjab Government’s existing instructions.
The Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982, shall be followed strictly while implementing the reservation for a grandchild of a Gallantry Award Winner/ wife or dependent child of an Ex-serviceman/ Ex-serviceman, and any of the changes in it as amended from time-to-time, along with the Punjab Government’s existing instructions.
Central Armed Police Forces (SSB, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, BSF, etc.) will not be considered for recruitment in the category of Ex-servicemen.
The EWS or Economically Weaker Section reservation will be enforced based on the instructions issued by the Punjab Government Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities (Reservation Cell) through its letter dated 30/10/20 with number 1/3/2019-RC1/700.
Women’s reservation will be implemented based on the specific instructions of the Punjab Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development (Social Security Branch). The notification used for this purpose is dated 21/10/20, and its number is G.S.R.87/Const/Arts 309 and 15/2020.
For the wards of Freedom Fighters, the reservation will be implemented based on the instructions put forth from time to time by the Punjab government.
The recruitment board will fill the 2% posts’ reservation for Direct Recruitment reserved for the wards of deserving police officers. It will be based on the Punjab Government’s instructions through its memo No. 1(211)94-2H(1)/10176 of issue date 11.06.1996. According to this memo, dependents/wards/the personnel of Punjab Police who have suffered permanent disability/casualties in action against terrorists will be eligible. Also, those who have received the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry or Police Medal for Gallantry for displaying bravery in action, or those who have been at the forefront in the fight against terrorism, will become eligible.
