The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will soon release the SSC Police Recruitment 2019 official exam notification. Like every year, eligible candidates will be recruited based on their overall performance in the national level online examination. The vacancies for the post of Delhi Police Officer, Sub-Inspector in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), and Assistant Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is yet to be announced.
Here are 4 Stages to becoming a Delhi Police Officer
Aspiring candidates need to pass the entrance examination, which takes place in four stages.
Stage 1- Written Examination
The written exam consists of two papers. Candidates must qualify the first paper in order to be eligible to appear for the second paper. The detailed exam pattern and syllabus of the written exam will be available on the SSC official website.
Stage 2- PST/PET Exam
The Physical Endurance Test (PET) actually takes place after Paper-I and before Paper-II of the written examination. Stage 2 tests the physical standards/efficiency of the candidate. Candidates must pass the PET/PST exam. Only then will he/she be allowed to appear for Paper-II of the written exam.
Stage 3- Personality Test
Candidates, who pass Stage 1 and 2 successfully, are called for the third stage of recruitment. 100 marks are allotted to the Personality Test. The marks obtained in Stage-3 add up to the final score of the candidate. Thus, the candidate’s final score is the aggregate marks obtained in Paper-I&II, and Personality Test.
Stage 4- Medical Exam
Those who qualify Stage-2 or PET exam are called to appear for a medical test. Candidates need to pass the fourth stage of recruitment in order to get selected for the post of Delhi Police Officer/CAPF/CSIF.
The final merit list featuring names of the selected candidates is then published on the official website of SSC.
Eligibility Criteria for Delhi Police
Candidates willing to appear for the entrance exams must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria, as mentioned by the Staff Selection Commission.
- The candidate must have an Indian citizenship
- Candidates from Tibetan, Nepal, and Bhutan refugee as well as People of Indian Origin are eligible to sit for the exam, provided they have a certificate issued by the Govt. of India for their citizenship
- The age of the candidate must be between 20 and 25 years. Provision for age relaxation in the Upper age limit is applicable.
- The candidate should at least have a Bachelor’s degree/equivalent from a recognized university
- Candidates applying for the position of Delhi Police Officer must have a legit driving license, issued for Licensed Motor Vehicle
- The height of the candidate must be 165cm (for men), and 157cm (for women)
- For men, the measurement of the chest should be 81-85cm
- The weight of the candidate should be 50Kgs (for men) and 46Kgs (for women)
Candidates can register online to fill in the online application form and submit the application fee as soon as the date of registration is published.
Some quick exam tips to become a Delhi police officer
- Go through the exam pattern and syllabus thoroughly
- Go through previous years’ question papers to get a brief idea of the topics and level of difficulty
- Make sure you practice as much as possible by taking up online mock tests
- Make sure you understand the negative marking scheme
- Go through previous years’ cut-off marks and ensure that you score the minimum expected cut-off
