All you need to know about the post of CBI SI

If you are aiming to become a Sub-Inspector in the CBI, you will need to sit for the SSC Combined Graduate Level examination.

  • Educational Qualification- The candidate must hold a graduate’s degree from any recognized University.
  • Age limit- Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age to apply for the post of SI at the CBI.
  • Training- The training schedule for a CBI Sub-inspector last for around 1 year and 7 months after the joining. During this time, the candidate will be trained at the CBI Academy and undergo attachments with the Local Police and CBI Branch.
  • Job profile- CBI Sub-Inspectors are much more powerful than the sub-inspectors of the local police are. They are in charge of the investigation of several crimes such as murder, kidnapping, extortion, corruption, and more.

Salary and pay scale of CBI SI

The salary of an SI in the CBI depends on the city of their posting. If they are posted across the X classified cities, they will receive Rs 43,166. CBI Sis in Y and Z cities receive Rs 39,492 and Rs 37,664, respectively. The pay scale for the post ranges between Rs 9300 and Rs 34800, while grade pay is Rs 4600.
