SSC CPO Syllabus for 2018

SSC CPO Syllabus 2018- The notification for the SSC CPO 2018 exam was released recently. The exam is scheduled to be held from 4^th June to 10^th June. Here we bring to you the detailed syllabus of the SSC CPO exam for both paper I and paper II.

Let us first look at the exam pattern.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern

The examination will consist of Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). All these stages of the examination are mandatory. Let us look at the exam pattern in detail.

• both papers will be of objective multiple choice type
• there will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in both Paper-I & Paper-II

Questions will be designed to test the following:

• general awareness of the environment 
• knowledge of current events
• matters of everyday observation

The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to the following:

• History
• Culture
• Geography
• Economic Scene
• General Polity
• Indian Constitution
• Scientific Research 

SSC CPO Syllabus : Quantitative Aptitude

The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. Topics, as mentioned in the official notification, are:

• Percentages and Partnerships
• Profit, Loss, and Discounts
• Ratio and Proportion
• Squares and Square roots
• Averages, Mixtures, and Allegation
• Interest
• Time and Distance
• Time and Work
• Basic algebraic identities and elementary surds
• Graphs of linear equations
• Triangles (centers, congruence, similarity)
• Circles (chords, tangents, angles subtended, common tangents)
• Mensuration
• Trigonometry (ratios, degree-radian Measures, standard identities, complementary angles)
• Height and Distance
• Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.

SSC CPO Syllabus : English Comprehension

Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, basic comprehension and writing ability etc. would be tested in this paper. Some question types are:

Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on:

• Filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc)
• Vocabulary and spellings
• Sentence Structure
• Synonyms & Antonyms
• Sentence Completion
• Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words
• Comprehension
