  1. Central Bureau of Investigation – CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation, commonly known as the CBI, is the chief investigating agency in the country. Founded in the year 1963, the agency operates under the authority of the Ministry of Public Grievances, Personnel, and Pensions. The headquarters of the CBI is in New Delhi, and Agency Executive (Director), M. Nageswara Rao, currently heads it. The motto of CBI is “Integrity, Impartiality, and Industry”.

  1. Archaeological Survey of India- ASI

ASI is a government agency in India, which runs under the Ministry of Culture (headquartered in Delhi). The Archaeological Survey of India is responsible for the preservation and conservation of various cultural monuments, as well as carrying out archaeological research in India. Alexander Cunningham founded the ASI in 1861. Later, he became the agency’s first Director-General.

  1. Serious Fraud Investigation Office- SFIO

The SFIO is a statutory corporate fraud investigating Govt. agency. This means the agency is responsible for looking into serious commercial frauds in India. It functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, with Amardeep Singh Bhatia as the Director (Agency Exec.)

  1. Narcotics Control Bureau- NCB

The Narcotics Control Bureau or NCB is an Indian intelligence agency and the nodal drug law enforcement, which is accountable for fighting illegal substance abuse and trafficking of drugs. An Officer of the Indian Revenue Service or the Indian Police Service is the NCB’s Director-General. The agency was founded in 1986 in the headquarters of New Delhi. Rajnath Singh from the Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for operating the NCB.

  1. National Investigation Agency- NIA

NIA was established in 2009 by the Central Govt. of India to fight terror in the country. NIA functions as the Central Counter-Terrorism Law Enforcement Agency and is authorized to take actions against crimes related to terror across all states, without the consent of the particular state. This agency also has its headquarters in the capital city, New Delhi, and operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

  1. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India- TRAI

This statutory body was set up under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act Section 3 (1997). It regulates the telecommunications sector of the country. The headquarters of TRAI is in New Delhi. Ram Sewak Sharma is the Chairman of the agency, while Sunil K. Gupta is the Secretary.

  1. Defence Research and Development Organization- DRDO

The Govt. agency DRDO is the chief R&D (research and development) organization of India. The organization works on diverse areas of military technology, including armaments, aeronautics, combat vehicles, and missiles to address the needs of the Indian defence system and enhance self-reliance. Founded in 1958, DRDO operates under the Ministry of Defence. The motto of DRDO is “Strength’s Origin is in Science”.
