IBPS RRB PO Selection Process 2026

The IBPS RRB PO selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview. Candidates must qualify at each applicable stage to remain in the recruitment process.

Stage 1: IBPS RRB PO Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the Officer Scale I recruitment process. It is conducted online to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. The examination generally assesses candidates in Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates must meet the prescribed sectional and overall qualifying requirements, wherever applicable, to be considered for the next stage. The Preliminary Examination is a screening stage. Its marks are not included in the final merit score for Officer Scale I. Candidates should therefore focus on accuracy, time management, and meeting the required cut-off marks.

Stage 2: IBPS RRB PO Main Examination

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are shortlisted for the Main Examination. This stage evaluates their knowledge and aptitude across the prescribed subjects. The Main Examination generally includes the following sections:

  • Reasoning
  • Computer Knowledge
  • General Awareness
  • English Language or Hindi Language
  • Quantitative Aptitude

The applicable examination structure and subject-wise requirements should be checked in the official notification. Candidates must secure the prescribed minimum scores in the required tests and achieve a sufficiently high overall score to be shortlisted for the interview. The Main Examination score is considered for the final selection along with the interview score.

Stage 3: IBPS RRB PO Interview

Candidates shortlisted after the Main Examination are called for an interview. The interview assesses their suitability for the Officer Scale I position, including their communication skills, awareness of banking and rural development, decision-making ability, and overall personality. The interview is coordinated by the designated Nodal Regional Rural Bank with assistance from NABARD and IBPS, in consultation with the appropriate authority. Candidates must qualify in both the Main Examination and the interview and secure a sufficiently high combined merit score to be considered for provisional allotment.

IBPS RRB Clerk Selection Process 2026

The IBPS RRB Clerk recruitment is conducted for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose). Unlike the officer-level recruitment process, there is no interview for IBPS RRB Clerk. The selection process includes the following stages:

Stage 1: IBPS RRB Clerk Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is the first screening stage. It generally tests candidates in Reasoning and Numerical Ability. Candidates must meet the applicable qualifying requirements to be shortlisted for the Main Examination. The preliminary score is not included in the final merit score.

Stage 2: IBPS RRB Clerk Main Examination

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination appear for the Main Examination. It generally covers Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, English or Hindi Language, and Numerical Ability. The Main Examination is the principal basis for preparing the merit list for Office Assistant recruitment. Candidates must obtain the required qualifying scores and rank sufficiently high according to the applicable merit and allotment rules.

Stage 3: Provisional Allotment

There is no interview stage for Office Assistant candidates. After the examination and subsequent processing, eligible candidates are considered for provisional allotment to participating Regional Rural Banks. The allotment depends on factors such as merit, category, vacancies, preferences, and the applicable recruitment rules. Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed eligibility and document-verification requirements.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale II and Scale III Selection Process 2026

The selection process for Officer Scale II (Manager) and Officer Scale III (Senior Manager) differs from that of Officer Scale I. These posts do not have separate Preliminary and Main Examinations. Instead, candidates appear for a single-level online examination, followed by an interview.

Stage 1: Single-Level Examination

Candidates applying for Officer Scale II and Scale III must appear for the prescribed single-level examination. The examination structure varies according to the post and, where applicable, the specialist stream.

The examination generally assesses reasoning, quantitative and data interpretation skills, financial awareness, computer knowledge, language proficiency, and professional knowledge relevant to the post. The precise subjects and their weightage depend on the applicable examination scheme. Candidates must meet the prescribed qualifying requirements and obtain a sufficiently high score to be shortlisted for the interview.

Stage 2: Interview

Candidates shortlisted based on their single-level examination performance are called for an interview. The interview assesses their professional knowledge, relevant experience where applicable, managerial capabilities, and suitability for the role. Candidates must qualify in both the single-level examination and the interview and meet the required combined merit criteria for provisional allotment.

The interview is applicable to Officer Scale I, Officer Scale II, and Officer Scale III candidates. Office Assistant candidates do not have to appear for an interview. The key points of the interview process are as follows:
