  • Knowledge of Postal Operations
  • Knowledge of Local Language

Paper 1 consists of two parts- A & B. Candidates applying for any of the three posts should know the syllabus for this paper. The topics and sub-topics covered are given below.

Post Office Guide Part 1

This is basically a part of the guidelines that all aspirants must know for the job.

  • Organization of the department
  • Type of post offices
  • Business hours
  • Payment of postage, stamps & stationery
  • General rules as to packing, sealing, and posting, manner of affixing postage stamps
  • Methods of address
  • Post boxes and Post bags
  •  Duties of Letter Box Peon

General Awareness/Knowledge

Basic general awareness is necessary. The topics in focus are as follows-

Basic Arithmetic

Knowledge of basic maths is also required for the posts. The syllabus is as given below.

The second paper, like the first, mainly tests the candidate’s proficiency with all the skills required for the posts they are applying for. This means these two papers have to be prepared very well.

Like with Paper 1, this also tests the candidate’s knowledge about the different aspects of the postal service.

This one is mainly for Postman and Mail Guard. The candidate’s typing speed, accuracy, and computer proficiency.

India Post Paper 1 – Basic Postal Knowledge and General Awareness
