MPSC Rajyaseva Exam Pattern: Process, Exam Pattern for Mains

The MPSC Rajyaseva recruitment notification 2021 is out. The State Government of Maharashtra conducts the MPSC State service exam which is also known as the MPSC Rajyaseva exam annually to recruit suitable candidates into different wings of the state administration. MPSC Rajyaseva Selection Process

There are three stages in the MPSC Rajyaseva exam which is similar to the Union Public Service Commission and other State Public Service Commissions:

1. Prelims Exam

2. Mains Exam

3. Interview Round

In order to to be eligible for stages 2 and 3, a candidate is required to clear the previous stage, that is in order to qualify for the MPSC mains exam, the candidate has to clear the prelims, and post clearing the MPSC mains, the candidate would be called for the Interview which is the final round of the MPSC Rajyaseva Selection Process.

MPSC Rajyaseva Exam Pattern For Prelims:

This is the first stage of the MPSC Rajyaseva exam which will serve as a qualifier for the next stage i.e. the mains exam. The MPSC prelims exam consists of 2 papers, both being objective in nature. Both the papers are compulsory to attempt.

Key Points To Be Noted:

MPSC Rajyaseva Exam Pattern For Prelims

  • As already captured above, there will be 2 papers in the MPSC prelims exam and carries 200 marks each
  • 2 hours will be allotted for each paper
  • Marks of both the papers will be considered only for the purpose of selecting the candidates who will be eligible for the next level i.e. MPSC mains
  • Candidates must obtain a minimum of 33% in the Prelims to be eligible for the Main exam
  • Candidates should note that there is a negative marking for incorrect answers
  • For every incorrect answer, there will be a deduction of 1/4th marks allocated to that particular question (Kindly note that previously the deduction was 1/3rd of the marks allocated to the question)
  • Also, kindly note that for every question where a candidate marks two options as answers, he/she will be attracting a negative marking of 1/4th  
  • The exam is available in two languages, Marathi and English except for the questions which are meant to test the candidate’s knowledge of English. 
  • The questions in paper II which pertain to decision-making do not attract negative marks even if incorrectly answered. Generally, these comprise question nos. 74 to 80 in paper II.

MPSC Rajyaseva Exam Pattern For Mains:

The candidates who secure the MPSC cutoff marks which are decided by the state commission will be eligible to take the MPSC Rajyaseva Mains Exam and they are allotted the admit card to take the same.

 In the MPSC Rajyaseva Mains Exam, there are 6 papers. Paper I and Paper II: Language papers while Paper III, Paper IV, Paper V, and  Paper VI: General studies papers. Kindly note that there are no optional subjects in the MPSC Rajyaseva Mains Exam, which means all the papers are compulsory to attempt (w.e.f. the amendment made in the year 2012).

Key Points To Be Noted For The MPSC Mains Exam Pattern

  • The total marks for the MPSC Rajyaseva Mains Exams are 800
  • The MCQ-based questions in the Mains exams carry a negative marking of 1/4th marks for every wrong answer (Kindly note that previously the deduction was 1/3rd of the marks allocated to the question)
  • The questions that pertain to decision-making in Paper II have no negative markings in case of incorrectly answered questions

  • This is the last stage of the MPSC selection process

  • The candidates will be interviewed by a panel of competent and unbiased members of the MPSC board
  • This round evaluates the candidate’s qualities such as soft skills, presence of mind, aptitude, etc. making it more of a personality test
  • The candidate must be aware of the latest current happenings in India as well as across the globe
