The Significance of the Documentary Co-Production Market

The Documentary Co-Production Market serves as a pivotal hub for filmmakers in search of commissioning, financing, and co-producing partners. Its core objective is to simplify the process for these filmmakers to gain access to opportunities that enable them to bring authentic and captivating stories to a global audience. The selected projects will have the chance to present their concepts, form connections with industry professionals, and collaborate with them at Film Bazaar, thereby transforming their creative visions into reality.

Shri Prithul Kumar, the Film Festival Director, IFFI & Film Bazaar, Joint Secretary (Films) & MD, NFDC, emphasized the introduction of the non-feature section this year. This introduction was a response to the burgeoning global interest in documentary films. The goal is to foster connections between South Asian documentary projects and international producers, distributors, sales agents, and financiers.

The NFDC encouraged applications from projects that celebrate human stories from a variety of fields, including, but not limited to, environment and sustainability, science and technology, urbanization, love and borders, important cultural figures, education, anthropology, women’s movements, gender and sexuality, children, music, arts and culture, health, mental health, and wildlife.
