OPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern
The OPSC exam is divided into three stages: preliminary examination, main examination, and personality test. Prelims Exam Pattern
- The prelim examination comprises 2 papers’ General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2
- Prelims is a multiple-choice question-based screening exam.
- General Studies Paper 1 is made up of 100 questions, each worth two points, and has a time limit of two hours.
- General Studies Paper 2 consists of 80 questions in total which are worth 200 marks each and the time allotted for Paper 1 is 2 hours.
- General Studies Paper 2 is a qualifying exam; hence candidates must score higher than 33% to be eligible to take the mains exam.
- According to the Odisha Public Service Commission, for each incorrect answer, 1/4th of the assigned mark will be deducted.
- The Preliminary Exam results are not used to determine the actual ranking. However, only those who clear the preliminary exam stage will be invited to the main exam, which could take place a few weeks later.

Main Exam Pattern
- Candidates who succeed in the prelim exam will be asked to attend the mains exam, which is the second phase of the OPSC Civil Services recruitment process.
- The OPSC OAS Main Exam is split into two sections: compulsory subjects and optional papers.
- The OPSC mains exam will consist of six papers in total with five compulsory papers and four optional papers.
- The main examination is an essay-based exam.
- Each paper in the mains exam has a time limit of three hours.
- The compulsory papers for the OPSC mains will be worth 1400 points, while the optional papers will be for 1200 points.

Personality Test
The OPSC personality test is the final step in choosing applicants for the OPSC Civil Services exam in 2021.
Candidates who meet all of the eligibility requirements and pass the preliminary and main examinations will be called to the personality test round. On the other hand, the merit list will be compiled entirely on the basis of the results of the mains exam and the personality test/interview process; prelims scores will be excluded.
