Every prospective applicant for the Punjab Police Sub-inspector Exam 2021 must be aware of the board’s eligibility criteria to ensure that they meet the requirements. The Punjab Police lay down the Punjab Police SI eligibility requirements for each of the selection processes mentioned below, starting from the eligibility to apply for the post –
Punjab Police SI Selection Process
The Punjab Police SI Selection Process takes place in various stages as given below:
- The Written Examination:
This is the first stage in the selection process. General Category candidates need to score at least 50% marks to clear the examination. SC/ST/BC candidates need to score at least 45% marks to clear the examination.
- Physical Screening Test:
Only candidates who qualify for the written exam can proceed to this stage. The physical Screening Test is meant to be qualifying, and hence no marks will be awarded. However, the candidates must clear the required fitness events.
The Punjab Police will call the candidates for an interview based on their merit in the written examination. The interview is scored for a maximum of 15 marks. They would call candidates, thrice the number of vacancies available.
- Merit List
Finally, they publish the Merit List based on the marks obtained by the candidates for their performance in the written examination and the interview.

Punjab Police SI Eligibility – Age Relaxation
There is a relaxation in the age restriction for the following categories of candidates for Punjab Police SI.

- Scheduled Castes: Candidates from the scheduled castes have a 5-year age relaxation; therefore, they can be up to 33 years old.
- Scheduled Tribes: Candidates from the scheduled tribes have a 5-year age relaxation; therefore, they can be up to 33 years old.
- Backward Classes: Candidates from the Backward Classes have a 5-year age relaxation; therefore, they can be up to 33 years old.
- Ex-servicemen: Applicants from the ex-servicemen category who are Punjab residents can reduce the time spent serving in the Union Armed Forces from their real age. As a result, the age relaxation for ex-servicemen is 3 years plus the number of years of service in the Indian Defence Forces.
- Government Employees: Candidates who are government employees have a 5-year age relaxation; therefore, they can be up to 33 years old.

While enrolling for any Sub Inspector (SI) positions, a candidate must read the eligibility requirements and ensure that they meet them in terms of educational qualifications. The educational requirements for Punjab Police SI are listed below.

Graduation from a recognized university with a NIELIT ‘0′ Level Information Technology Certificate or an engineering degree in one of the streams such as IT, Computer Networking, Data Science, BCA, CS, CSE, or software engineering or postgraduate certificate in computer applications from a recognized university or institution or degree in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Applications from a recognized university is necessary or Information Technology (IT) as one of the graduate elective subjects.|
Essential Qualification for Punjab Police SI
Applicants should have cleared the Matriculation exam with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject.
The candidate must be an Indian citizen. Candidates from outside Punjab are also eligible to apply for this position. Those who hold citizenship, permanent residency, or a green card from another country are ineligible to take the Punjab Police SI 2021 exam.
This exam assesses the applicants’ physical abilities. To be considered for Sub Inspector positions in the Punjab Police, all applicants must pass this test.
The physical standard test & the physical measurement test are part of the Punjab Police SI physical standard eligibility criteria. The Punjab Police have established a minimum height requirement for the position of sub-inspector. To be considered for the position, candidates must meet the height requirements.

Candidates who meet or exceed the requisite minimum height will be considered for the physical measurement test. The test consists of distinct events such as racing and jumping. Male and female applicants have different values for these events.
