Punjab Police SI Eligibility – Age Limit, Education

The recruitment notification for Punjab Police had announced 560 vacancies. The selection process involves online written exams, physical screening tests, and interviews. This year, Punjab Police will hold the written exams from 17th to 31st of August. The online applications were being accepted from 5th July 2021. Eligible aspirants can apply for the same online. Punjab Police SI Selection Process 

The Punjab Police SI Selection Process takes place in various stages as given below:

  1. The Written Examination:

This is the first stage in the selection process. General Category candidates need to score at least 50% marks to clear the examination. SC/ST/BC candidates need to score at least 45% marks to clear the examination. 

  1. Physical Screening Test:

Only candidates who qualify for the written exam can proceed to this stage. The physical Screening Test is meant to be qualifying, and hence no marks will be awarded. However, the candidates must clear the required fitness events. 

  1. Interview:

The Punjab Police will call the candidates for an interview based on their merit in the written examination. The interview is scored for a maximum of 15 marks. They would call candidates, thrice the number of vacancies available. 

  1. Merit List

Finally, they publish the Merit List based on the marks obtained by the candidates for their performance in the written examination and the interview.

Sub Inspector in District Police Cadre: Sub Inspectors in the District Police Cadre must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
Sub Inspector in Armed Police Cadre: Sub Inspectors in the Armed Police Cadre must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
Sub Inspector in Investigation Cadre: Sub Inspectors in the Investigation Cadre must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
Sub Inspector in Intelligence Cadre Sub Inspector in Intelligence Cadre must fulfill one of the following educational qualifications listed below. Graduation from a recognized university with a NIELIT ‘0′ Level Information Technology Certificate or an engineering degree in one of the streams such as IT, Computer Networking, Data Science, BCA, CS, CSE, or software engineering or postgraduate certificate in computer applications from a recognized university or institution or degree in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Applications from a recognized university is necessary or Information Technology (IT) as one of the graduate elective subjects.

Essential Qualification for Punjab Police SI

Applicants should have cleared the Matriculation exam with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject.

Nationality related Punjab Police SI Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must be an Indian citizen. Candidates from outside Punjab are also eligible to apply for this position. Those who hold citizenship, permanent residency, or a green card from another country are ineligible to take the Punjab Police SI 2021 exam.

Physical Standards related Punjab Police SI Eligibility Criteria

This exam assesses the applicants’ physical abilities. To be considered for Sub Inspector positions in the Punjab Police, all applicants must pass this test. 

The physical standard test & the physical measurement test are part of the Punjab Police SI physical standard eligibility criteria. Candidates who meet or exceed the requisite minimum height will be considered for the physical measurement test. The test consists of distinct events such as racing and jumping. Male and female applicants have different values for these events.
