The selection process of the SEBI Grade A Generalist include three phases which are Phase 1, Phase 2 & Phase 3. Step 1: Start by visiting the official website of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India).
Step 2: Look for the “Career” or “Recruitment” section on the website.
Step 3: Locate the notification for the SEBI Grade A General Stream recruitment.
Step 4: Look for a link or button that says “Register” or “Sign Up”. Provide the required information such as your name, email address, contact number, etc., and create a username and password.
Step 5: Once registered, login to the website using the credentials you just created.
Step 6: Find the link to the application form for SEBI Grade A General Stream. Click on it to access the form. Fill in all the required details accurately.
Step 7: Upload scanned copies of certain documents such as educational certificates, ID proof, photograph, signature, etc.
Step 8: Pay the application fee as mentioned in the notification.
Step 9: Before submitting the application, carefully review all the information provided to ensure accuracy.

SEBI Grade A Generalist Eligibility
The SEBI Grade A Generalist Eligibility is measured on the basis of various parameters such as age limit, educational qualification, nationality, etc.
SEBI Grade A Generalist Eligibility – Educational Qualification
Master’s Degree/ Post Graduate Diploma* (minimum two years’ duration) in any
discipline/ Bachelor’s Degree in Law/ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a
recognized University/ Institute or Chartered Accountant/ Chartered Financial Analyst/
Company Secretary/ Cost Accountant.
SEBI Grade A Generalist Eligibility – Nationality
Only the Indian citizens are eligible as per the SEBI Grade A General Eligibility.
SEBI Grade A Generalist Eligibility – Age Limit
The maximum age limit as per the SEBI Grade A General Eligibility is 30 years. The reference date for the calculation of the age limit will be updated here
SEBI Grade A Generalist Selection Process 2025
Just as all other streams, the SEBI Grade A General Stream selection process remains the same. There will be three phases which will include the following:
- Phase 1 (Two online papers consisting of 100 marks each)
- Phase 2 (Two online papers consisting of 100 marks each)
- Phase 3 (Interview)
SEBI Grade A General Stream Exam Pattern 2025
The exam pattern consists of important details such as duration, marking scheme, subjects, marks, no of questions and more. Check out the exam pattern for both the phases below:
SEBI General Stream Phase 1 Exam Pattern
The Phase 1 Exam will consist of two papers, both of which will have the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Check the detailed pattern below:
- There shall be negative marking (1/4th of marks assigned to the question) for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in Phase I.
- For Paper 1, the cut off is 30% and for Paper 2, the cut off is 40%. The aggregate cut off for both papers is 40%.
- The maximum marks for both papers is 100 marks each.
- The duration of paper 1 is 60 minutes whereas the duration of paper 2 is 40 minutes.

SEBI General Stream Phase 2 Exam Pattern
The Phase 2 Exam will consist of two papers for 100 marks each. Paper 1 will be descriptive test and paper 2 will have MCQs. Check the detailed pattern below:
- The maximum marks for both the papers are 100.
- For Paper 1, the duration is 60 minutes whereas for paper 2, the duration is 90 minutes.
- The cut off for paper 1 is 30%, whereas for paper 2 it is 40%, and the aggregate cut off is 50%.
