Success Story of Gaurav Taneja

Read the Success Story of Gaurav Taneja, who proved that failure is simply the opportunity to begin again and cleared IBPS PO 2018.

A Brief Introduction

Hello, my name is Gaurav Taneja. I was born and brought up in Delhi. I did my schooling from Delhi and then did my Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala. After college, I worked in a corporate sector as a Software Engineer for about 14-15 months. After that I resigned and started my preparation for govt. exams from 2018.

In my spare time, I like to do calligraphy, handwriting analysis and play and follow football. I am greatly inspired by former Prime Minister Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and current footballer Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo.

Name of the exams I have cleared

1- SBI PO 2018 Mains (Missed Final Merit List)

2- IBPS Clerk 2018 Pre (Missed Merit List in Mains)

3- IBPS SO IT 2018 Mains (Missed Final Merit List)

4- IBPS PO 2018 (Selected – Allahabad Bank)

5- CAT-2018 (92.47 percentile), XAT-2018 – (96.8 percentile)

Preparation Strategy:

It was a bit challenging initially to get the hang of the examination pattern and process. I learnt a lot from my failures in SBI & RRB exams. Eventually with the support of family and friends I was able to get success in IBPS PO 2018.

I DIDN’T READ ANY PREPARATORY BOOKS.

I felt that I have decent basics in Reasoning, Maths and English from school. So, I didn’t read any preparatory books. Though I read novels a lot. It helped me a lot to prepare for my English section.

Though I did not read any books but I gave mocks from different sources and evaluated these mocks. According to me giving mocks is a must. Once your basics concepts are clear all you need is rigorous practice. So I gave as many mocks as I can to prepare myself best for the examinations.

This was also the time, when I came to know of Oliveboard. I started with topic test on Oliveboard’s site and then moved onto the section test to improve my speed. These tests helped me a lot in improving my weak areas and making my strong areas even stronger. Meanwhile, I attempted daily gk news quiz on Oliveboard’s site to check on that I do not miss anything. It’s very important to keep yourself updated with the latest news and updates. This will immensely help you in your interview as well.

Moreover, before every exam I would attempt only 5-6 mock tests but these needed to be evaluated thoroughly on where I can improve topic wise and speed wise. Analysing the mock tests are equally important and it helps a lot in devising your further preparation strategy. Also, weak topics and percentile indicated after each test was very helpful.

In Interviews, I divided my preparation into 4 parts: HR Questions, Current Affairs, Academics, and Banking Awareness. For HR Questions, I browsed top questions on internet and prepared answers specific to me. Make sure you keep your answers as crisp and honest as you can. For current affairs, I read Hindu daily and followed affairs cloud pdf with oliveboard daily quiz. Both these sites helped me a lot to keep myself updated on a daily basis and prepare in the best possible way for my interview. Banking awareness pdf you can find online and prepare accordingly.

Role of Oliveboard:

It was the center of action for me. I did topic test, section test, and mock tests here. Oliveboard mock tests being based on the latest pattern & syllabus helped me to a great extent. Moreover the analysis provided by Oliveboard was a big plus point for me during my preparation journey. It made easier for me to keep track of my proceedings.

Tips to Aspirants:

Never give up and give all the exams on your journey. Be it SSC, BANKING, CAT etc as syllabus is same, just difficulty level varies. Regular targets keeps one motivated and helps to improve immensely. If one is having a job, don’t leave it as it leads to a lot of pressure (only my perspective). Try to utilize weekends and free time. Last but not the least, keep interacting with like minded positive people and avoid negative people.
