I completed my B.Tech from Nit Raipur in Mechanical engineering in 2018. Wanting to give UPSC exam so since 2018 have been preparing for that and did not take up any job. I have been getting various doubts on my RBI strategy and how can UPSC aspirants utilise this opportunity. Also, how can one manage both RBI and UPSC? I gave my first attempt in RBI to know the demand of the exam and this year was my first serious attempt. In all these three years first 2 years was dedicated to UPSC prep but in spite of all the hard work could not clear it. I thought it was high time for me to have stability in life, that coupled with my interest in the nation’s economy found a great opportunity in RBI.

Ila’s Subject-wise Preparation Strategy

As I was a UPSC aspirant so that base had helped me a lot especially for the ESI and General Awareness part. 

For GA, I relied on some coaching materials summary and mocks.

For quants, reasoning and English, I practised a few mocks and prepared my strategy on how to solve the various sections in Phase1 like I attempted a good mixture of a long question and various small questions in the Reasoning section. Basically, I relied on Reverse engineering.

Any course for Phase 2 would be really helpful for covering the syllabus in a short duration of time. I gave great emphasis on the typing practice part due to the addition of the descriptive portion this time. But obviously the word limit was too much, so focused on the quality of answers rather than quantity.

For the Interview, I read the newspaper Business Standard, followed the RBI website, discussion with Friends and had various mocks. Mocks are really important for every stage.
