Success Story of Subhadeep Paul – Cleared IBPS SO (Marketing)

Read the success story of Subhadeep Paul, who missed major exams with very less marks but his dedication & support from the family kept him going and in 2018 he went onto clear IBPS SO.

Here is his inspiring story:

Hello Everyone, I am  Subhadeep Paul from Silchar, Assam and I have cleared IBPS SO 2018-19 & allotted CANARA BANK, SPECIALIST OFFICER (MARKETING). First of all I would like to thank my parents, my family members, educators and friends who motivated me at every step and also special thanks to those who tried to demotivate, because their words kept on making me stronger every time.

1- I completed my B.Tech in Mechanical engineering and then did MBA in Marketing specialization. I started my preparation on 1st December, 2017 and below are the list of exams that I appeared:- 

2- IBPS SO (Marketing) 2017: Out in prelims, though cleared the total cut off but couldn’t clear the sectional cut off of English. 

3- SBI Clerk 2018: As the exam got postponed, I got sufficient time to make myself get prepared. Cleared the prelims (Scored 76 , cut off for ASSAM was 52) but out in mains (Scored 76, cut off was 82). 

4- SBI PO 2018: Cleared prelims (Scored 64, cut off 56.75) and mains (Scored 103, cut off 93.1) but out in final list. 

5- RRB PO 2018: Cleared prelims (Scored 48.75, cut off for ASSAM 46.50) and out in mains, this time I was unprepared and tried to give full focus on SBI PO interview. 

6- RRB Clerk 2018 Cleared prelims (Scored 72.75, cut off ASSAM 67.50) and did not appear for mains, as I went out of station to appear for SBI PO interview.

7- IBPS PO 2018: Cleared prelims (Scored 68.50, cut off 56.75) and mains (Scored 77.13, cut off 74.50) but out in final selection.

8- IBPS Clerk 2018 Cleared prelims (Scored 74.75, cut off ASSAM 67.25) , out in mains, this time I was giving full focus on IBPS SO main.

9- IBPS SO (MARKETING) 2018, And finally this time got final selection and got allocated in Canara Bank. Prelims (Scored 81.75, cut off 42.13) Mains (Scored 40.25, cut off 30.75).

The happiness that I have seen on my parents face was incredible, and indeed it is the best day of my life till date.  

My Strategy:- 

Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning: I initially relied completely on Youtube videos for clearing the concepts of various topics. After couple of months when I got an idea of the concepts, I then started attempting various quizzes and online mock tests. Trust me quizzes and mock tests are the best source for practicing. Initially scores will never be good but with proper analysis it will surely keep on improving gradually. 

English: For this section I relied only on quizzes and mock tests, as pattern keeps on changing every time, mock tests would give an idea about the kind of questions that could be asked.

GK: For this I read the capsules thoroughly before mains exam. But it is advisable to read current affairs on a daily basis and revise the same on weekly and monthly basis, so to have less burden before mains and can prepare other sections as well in a parallel way. 

Marketing aptitude: First of all, I read the book of Philip Kotler of Marketing Management thoroughly, and kept on marking the important points with highlighter on the book (as I am not much comfortable in making notes). After I read the entire book, I then religiously revised the highlighted points of the book that I marked and had started attempting mock tests.

Mock tests really helped in getting the idea of question pattern and improving accuracy as well. Remember, for any section, mock tests are the best and only source for practicing and improving your accuracy and efficiency. Thanks to Oliveboard for providing high quality mock tests. 

Tips to aspirants: Stay away from negative people as much as you can. If you think you can, you definitely can but the moment you lose hope, the game is over. So guys “WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME & TILL THEN KEEP GIVING YOUR BEST”
