UPSC ISS/IES: Nationality/Citizenship
- An Indian citizen.
- Candidates from the following categories are also eligible:
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who settled in India before January 1, 1962.
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from specific countries to settle in India.
- Note: Candidates from the mentioned categories other than Indian citizen, must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India when applying for the exam.
Educational Qualification for UPSC ISS/IES
- For Indian Economic Service (IES):
Candidates are required to hold a Post Graduate Degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics. This degree must be from a recognized university or a foreign university approved by the Central Government of India.
- For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):
