UPSC ISS/IES Eligibility Criteria 2024

Union Public Service Commission has released the UPSC ISS/IES Eligibility Criteria 2024, along with the official notification. The commission has set several parameters for the aspirants to be eligible for the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service. The candidate must be between 21 to 30 years of age. Having Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree with Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics as one of the subjects, are eligible for ISS and having Post Graduate Degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized university are allowed for IES.

ISS/IES Eligibility Criteria 2024

The ISS/IES Exam 2024 Conducting Authority, UPSC has set some parameters for the candidates who are willing to join the Indian Statistical Department or Indian Economical Department. The candidate who will meet all the eligibility criteria, only they will be eligible for the final merit, after clearing all the stages of the ISS/IES Selection Process 2024.

UPSC ISS/IES Age Limit 2024

To be eligible for this examination, a candidate is required to fulfill certain age criteria. UPSC ISS/IES: Nationality/Citizenship

  • An Indian citizen.
  • Candidates from the following categories are also eligible:
    • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
    • A Tibetan refugee who settled in India before January 1, 1962.
    • A person of Indian origin who migrated from specific countries to settle in India.
  • Note: Candidates from the mentioned categories other than Indian citizen, must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India when applying for the exam.

Educational Qualification for UPSC ISS/IES

  • For Indian Economic Service (IES):

Candidates are required to hold a Post Graduate Degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics. This degree must be from a recognized university or a foreign university approved by the Central Government of India.

  • For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):

Candidates should have either a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics as one of the subjects, or they must possess a Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics. The degree should be from a recognized university or a foreign university approved by the Central Government of India.
